California State Capitol Museum
Operating continuously since the day the doors opened in 1869, California State Capitol Museum is where the State of California's legislature met. By the late 1970s, the building was declared seismically unsafe and had become an eyesore. The Legislature decided to stay in its traditional home and authorized a massive restoration. Today, from the intricate tile work on the front lobby floor to the lovingly etched filigreed detail in alcoves under the rotunda, the craftsmanship of a bygone era is evident. Docent guided tours are free.
The California State Capitol is an absolutely beautiful and an awesome historical building. I wanted a history lesson of my state and I received a bountiful. I can’t believe it took me this long to see the capitol of California and it was sure well worth the drive. I can’t wait to return!!

I really liked this activity. I thought there would be an actual museum, but all I could find was the actual capitol building itself. It was very interesting to see where so much happens for our state. there is a free guided tour that is great to go on and they show you everything.
Inside this very building is where a lot of amazing stuff takes place. If you haven't been there, you're really missing out! Even the bathrooms are some of the cleanest i've ever seen! With a park just outside its doors and the state governer inside, it is an amazing place for tourists to visit.
