McKinley Park

Description

This is the most photogenic park in Sacramento. This park, recently refurbished, is also a haven for amateur sports enthusiasts. Baseball fields, horseshoe sand pits, a soccer field, and tennis courts are available. Picnickers will find tables and barbecue apparatus scattered around this large park, measuring four blocks square. The wholesome atmosphere is reinforced by plenty of sturdy wooden playground equipment, jungle gyms, swings and slides for the kids. Joggers living in nearby Midtown neighborhoods make extensive use of the trail circling the park.

Lol I just thought of this name. Okay.... Hmm..... Today the library closed. I went for a lap around the park and when I came near the pool, there was a small crowd outside. There were six ducklings and their mother at the bottom of the empty kiddie pool. Half the ducklings and the mother could jump out, but the other 3 ducklings could barely reach the ledge. I'm home now, and I still have no news of them. Best place in Sacramento!

Honestly my favorite park in Sacramento.
By ,
It’s pretty big so if you’re looking to swim, check out a book at the library, watch a little the tennis, go for a jog, feed the ducks or sit out near the rose garden there is always something to do. There are plenty of shady spots and most every day there is some group playing a sport of some type so there is tons of good people watching. There is the group of vagrants but the park patrol usually escorts them off the property promptly. Get there early on long weekends and typical out door holidays but on a usual afternoon there is no trouble at all finding a nice shady spot to lay out your picnic blanket.

the best park in sacramneto
By ,
What I liked about the was that it is very ic and has a beautiful pond. Its also wonderful for kids and has a varity of things to do there such as, go swimming with the family, play at the play ground, play some basket ball, and also play tennis and softball. It also has wonderful Rose garden that people ove to ahve weddings at and good to walk thought if you are having a bad time. The park also has a libary that is cool to got o if you quiet and alone tme. The main that most people go to dp at the park is rn on the mile track that goes all around the park and its good for running, jogging, going with kids. And i dont have any disliks about the park.

roses
By ,
This park is spectacular in the spring time when the roses are in bloom. I grow roses in my home state of Texas and enjoy going to this park annually. There is a huge variety of roses and the colors are brilliant. The aromas from the fragrant varieties plus the blossoms on the orange trees nearby are luscious. The best time to visit the park is during the week during the day. On weekends it can get very crowded and parking can be a real challenge.

Rose Garden
By ,
The rose garden was a big disappointment when I went to see it for the first time this spring. Doesn't anyone take care of the roses? They were infected with fungus and in desperate need of pruning. I heard that the Rose Society worked on it last fall. It seems that Roses need care more often than that. Other than that the park was lovely.

Breath of Fresh Air
By ,
Love it. I first went there for the zoo which is located in this park. It was so serene and inviting that I went for a stroll instead. The manicured park so massive and beautiful it is like a hidden gem in sacramento. I lived here for 7 years and never once went in there until recently. This is Sacramento's perfect park.

Beautiful McKinley Park!
By ,
What an amazing park! It's amenities include: a pool, a public library, community space, a huge playground, a basketball court, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, baseball/softball diamonds, a beautiful pond, a great running trail, a garden center, and an amazing rose garden. We spent a week in Sacramento enjoying the dowtown area and returned to this great park repeatedly to play and enjoy all it has to offer. A little something for everyone!
