Michaels favorite place

My son enjoyed the second floor and can stay there all day if you let him. I was a little disappionted in the show was in the theatre. I was hoping for more of a variety. Hopefully next time we go there will be a new show. Other than that the people that work/volunteer there are great books of information!!! my son loves talking to them and they are soo patient with him since he is only nine and his communication skills are a little unclear. He has autism and trains are his number one love.thank you for making his visits wonderful.

A Trip to Bygone Years
By ,
I enjoyed both the static and none static displays. The history of Western Railroads, Mexicans and labor shipped in from China was fantastic. Worth the visit if you are 8 or 80

WOW

If you ever wanted to actually enter a sleeper or diner car from a train but were not able to here is your chance. The museum is great it is clean and very well taken care of. The staff is courteous and friendly and very knowledgeable about the time period and artifacts they represent. I would highly recommend. Also take the time to go across the street always and ride the old stream train.

Recommended!

I only wish our kids were with us! Our boys are the train buffs, but dad and I had to stop without them. They missed out! Dad and I enjoyed this museum alot. The volunteers were great, and the display of trains were impressive. We loved being able to walk through cars and hear about the history. Can't wait until we go back with the KIDS!

the available cars to walk thru. and the way the cars were set up to allow for plenty of walking. Never too noisey. My grandson enjoyed playing upstairs.

Intresting....
By ,
I really enjoyed the staff who work at the museum. They are all full of knowledge and are always willing to help answer any questions one might have. However, the exhibits need to be updated, because it only took me under an hour to see all of the exhibits. Also, some exhibits are not intresting to children. However, overall it is quite educating.

Anyone who is even remotely interested in railroading and trains will kick themselves if they are in the area and don't make it to this museum. It's unreal!

OK for Train buffs
By ,
It's a great place if you grew up loving trains or want to visit at least once. But I gave it only 3 stars because I was hoping it would be more hands on. But it still was a nice time.

How do you spell A W E S O M E
By ,
OUR CSRM has been an intregal part of our community since it's opening and Rail Fair in May 1981. Any lover of train lore and/or the history of California Railroading will spend not just hours but days, looking under, over, around and through all of the unique displays that have been created in diorama form for this museum, a true work of art. Many, many docent volunteer hours are put into the museum to keep everything clean, in order and 100% presentable for it's viewing public. The docents are extremely knowledgeable and thoroughly enjoy the work they are doing. A personal thank you to all of the volunteers and Rangers that keep our RailRoading experiences alive.

we are moving there ,we love it!
By ,
Being there reminded me of when I was a Child back east except for the weather. It gave me all the homey feelings that I've long since missed. The atmosphere is so positive. My oldest daughter has moved there. We tried to get her to come back to Los Angeles but she said come up there and see why she loved it so much . Well we did and now we know too. So we are on our way!
