Morton's The Steakhouse
If you want to really impress a guest who likes plenty of red meat served in a clubby environment at wallet-busting prices, take them to Morton's. This elegant downtown spot features a wide variety of excellent meat dishes like filet mignon (with Bearnaise sauce and potatoes Lyonnaise with caramelized onions), or just a good old steak. A full service bar offers a variety of beverages including the special house Martini.
I was first introduced to Morton's when my dad gave us a gift certificate for Christmas a few years ago. My husband and I laughed at the idea of needing a few hundred dollars for a dinner for two, but as stated above, this is probably the priciest place in town. However, considering the to die for food, the unbelievable service and the attention to detail, it was worth every penny and then some! Hey dad, we could use another gift certificate soon! Hint Hint!
I don't know where Morton's gets their beef from -- but wherever it is --- THOSE COWS MUST BE HAPPY!!
Without question the BEST steak I have ever tasted in my life!
They give you a knife, but it must just be for show as this meat cuts easily with a fork.
Service is above and beyond.
I made reservations 2 weeks prior to our 25th anniversary. Upon arrival we were immediately seated ( in fact, the host apollogized for a 3 minute delay while he attended the party ahead of us ). After being seated, our server ("Mel") greeted us by name and congratulated us for celebrating 25 years.
Note: The portions are very large. Split potatos and veggies. Mel suggested this and with reason.
You MUST save room for the Godiva Chocolate thing desert. Order it at the same time you order dinner.
And, YES!! Bring lots of $$. Very expensive and worth every penny!!
We love this place, and come back often to celebrate special occasions. The food as well as the service are consistently top-notch! I have never had a reason to complain, and cannot find even a small thing to improve upon. Oh, and that Godiva Chocolate Souffle thing is definitely worth every rich and chocolately calorie...mmm mmm good! If only that had no calories...
