Lugano Swiss Bistro
Flames burst from the rotisserie at this cheerful eatery. With the red-and-white tablecloths and the European ornaments adorning the walls, this is an ideal place to relax with friends or family. The menu offers a variety of pastas and other entrees with Swiss specialties that include mouthwatering Mountain Sausage Platter and the Veal Schnitzel with Capers. Wines run from $20-80 per bottle, including a handful of Swiss vintages. Swiss musicians play twice a week, usually Fridays and another day that varies from week to week.
Three years ago I was referred to a friend that this resturant was great!
But boy did three years have changed. Lugano Swiss Bistro off of the CA 1 and in the barnyard of the Carmel Shopping Courts. It sits in a comfy and beautiful court yard. The resturant was very spacouse and with a open fire patio that made a nice added touch to making it authentic.
Here are the Pros:
+ Nice and spacious patio
+ Lets you take your pet
+ Inside service was better
- poor service for outside patio
- waiter never checks up on you to see if you needed anything
- took an additional 25 minutes to flag down waiter if you request another item(s)
- food was mediocre
Try something else if your in carmel. Carmel and the Monterey Bay has a lot of varities of resturant. But if you want to enjoy a overpriced Swiss meal, then give it a try. But to all if you want to try Fondue, I would recommend going else where.
I've been to Lugano Swiss Bistro two times and was amazed by it both times. The fondue is great, especially the combination meals you can order that provide a mix of cheese and meat fondues with salads. I would definitely suggest a mixture of cheese and meat fondues.
The ambiance adds to the meal. Owned by Europeans, the entire restaurant is filled with Swiss decorations and pictures. When we were there, European musicians were serenading a group in another room. It's a very memorable place that I highly recommend!
We ordered fondue, and it appears my experience with fondue isn't even in the same planet as this place.
No selection of cheese, cooking oil or chocolate. Frozen food which seems more like it came from your local deli. Service? The table for 8 thought they had great service, which is why we didn't see anyone at our table that spoke english.
Don't waste your vacation time or money on this place!
