Hobart Aquatic Centre (The)
Splash the day away, irrespective of the weather, in the balmy indoor environs of the Tattersalls Hobart Aquatic Centre. Small children will love the whale slide and the water jets, which will keep them amused for hours. The Center is divided into three main areas, which include a full Olympic-size 50 meter (164.04 feet) swimming pool and diving boards; a 25 meter (82.02 feet) lap pool; and the kids area where the water does not get deeper than adult waist level. A large water slide is also available for the bigger kids or adults. The Center has its own shop/cafe. Please check the website for timings.
As regular visitors we love the whole experience, but we visited on the Monday of a lond weekend, the new set up of the canteen leaves a lot to be desired and the wait time absolutely disgusting, we waited in line for over 20 minutes for our lunch, then another 20 minutes an hour later just to buy a drink, wake up, public holiday, more people, you need more staff, and a seperate counter/checkout for food drinks/icecreams would help. Not looking forward to bringing the children again, but will, while we wait for the Launceston aquatic centre to be built.
I found the lifegurds to be most professional and very helpfull. This is defently worth the five stars!
Lockers defently need up-dating!
The general pool area, if fantastic. Great range of aquatic equiptment for my kids.
The children went to the Aquatic Centre three times in the week that we were in Hobart. And they would have gone more if they could. They loved it and our youngest voluntarily went in the water for the first time.
Because it is an indoor swimming centre the air was thick with chlorine and I couldn't stay but the others coped.
Great place, good staff, lots of light, characteristically friendly place eg typically Australian. GREAT temperature for a hard swim. It is one of the better 50m pools I have swum in the world. And I have been lucky enough to swim in a bunch.
