It is not hard to imagine the stagecoaches that plied the carriageways between Hobart Town and the east coast in the early days of the colony. Bush rangers were a constant threat and the relative safety of Ye Olde Buckland Inn must have come as a relief to anxious passengers. Only a dot on the map these days, it is worth stopping in the township of Buckland to enjoy the inn but especially to admire the window (and marvel at its mysterious past) of the Church of St. John the Baptist. History lovers will also enjoy reading the stones in the tiny church yard.
