Bolton's museum houses a quirky and unique variety of exhibits in its collection. These include examples of major British archaeological finds and rare Egyptian artefacts. There is also an aquarium where living exhibits are on display, such as reputedly the oldest living piranha fish in the world and the first Madagascan pin-striped dambas to be bred in captivity.The gallery boasts paintings, sculpture and contemporary ceramics amongst its permanent exhibits and hosts regular one-off, community and touring exhibitions. There is also a small gift shop on site selling prints, postcards and other memorabilia.
