Everyone married there stays married
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/11
After reading so many wonderful reviews I just had to add mine. My hisband and I were married at The Park Wedding Chapel in July 1986. We celebrated our 25th anniversary this year. I was so disappointed that the chapel is gone as our daughter got married three weeks ago. My husbands parents were married there, as were we and I wanted my daughter to be married there as well. Seems to me that most if not all marriages performed there stand the test of time. Very sad to see it gone

Expected a chapel, found a parking lot.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/11
My wife and I were married at the Park wedding Chapel in June 1976 and recently passed through Reno celebrating our 35th anniversary. We tried to find the chapel but only found a parking lot instead. What a waste. At least we still have a few pictures and our memories of the place.

And they said it wouldn't last!!!!!!!!!!!
By Ron & June, 5/6/11
We were married at the Park Wedding Chapel on Aug 31, 1961. We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year and were planning to visit the chapel while we were in Reno. The ceremony was really very pleasant and well organized. We are really sad to discover that it was demolished....oh well, at least our marriage has survived...

One beautiful little chapel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/25/10
My husband and I were married here on Nov. 8, 2005. What a lovely little chapel and the prices are great. We are planning to revisit the chapel for our anniversary this year. I can't wait to see the place again.

Revisit an Important Land[mark and Life’s Waypoint
By John, 9/16/10
Urban Revitalization – Bah Humbug! One of my daughters seeking the Park Wedding Chapel in Reno as a desired place for her fiancée and she to repeat a little family history, discovered that the rich jewel of Reno history has given way for a parking lot or its ilk! I guess that is progress in someone’s view. With a heavy heart I reflect upon our elopement back in September 29, 1962. Jan’s mother, unknowingly allowed her totally lovely daughter to use a newer car to run off with me, a Marine from then NAS Alameda (adjacent to Oakland, CA) to elope and begin our life together. As we are a week out from our 48th anniversary, I/we have planned to revisit this important land mark and life’s “waypoint” to historically recognize one of the key navigation points in our life Journey (i.e. including 7 children and a dozen grand children.) I was in my dress blues and Jan wore a smart beige suit that she had sewn. I recall that the minister was holding his prayer book/officiate manual, with the book open to his marriage service text, where his thumb rested upon the open page to the right of his text, his thumb had naturally worn a hole through the 4-5 pages following the marriage service section. I wonder how many thousands of couples like us that he had personally launched along life’s path with companions and help meets that would ultimately share all of life’s deep joys and profound sorrows? I suspect that “Urban Revitalization,” in what ever words that one uses to express that idea, is in fact a blight upon the rich culture that it is foisted upon… John and Jan Gammage 903.450.0300 John@Gammage.mm.st

Very quaint little place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/1/10
My husband and I were married there 30 years ago. Were hoping to visit this weekend while we were in town, but apparently the original isn't there anymore. Was a very nice little place, friendly and suited our needs just fine.

By Brenda, 7/24/10
We were married at the Park Wedding Chapel in 1961, and looking forward to going back for our 50th. I was shocked to read it is gone. It makes me sad, as we have great memories of this cute little Chapel.I'm glad we have a few pictures.

Great Memories of Park Wedding Chapel
By Rocco Galante, 2/15/10
I was watching the last movie made by Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe. "The Misfits" (1961) Park Wedding Chapel is in the background as Marilyn is entering the courthouse to get her divorce. This brought back great memories of our wedding in February of 1989. We returned every year to celebrate our Anniversary. Sorry to read that it was demolished. It well always have happy memories for us! Rocky & Sandy
