EXCEPTIONAL!
Our family has never been disappointed by a trip to Animal Ark! Although it is a relatively small facility it shelters a surprisingly diverse group of wild animals. The volunteer staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
Admission is very reasonable - $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $ 4 for 3-12 years, and free for those 2 and under. For those with physical challenges they offer the use of golf carts to get around the dirt trails free of charge. For a donation others may use the carts if available.
The enclosures are not overly-large but the animals each have natural living environments. Animal Ark seems like a very good place for wild animals without a home and who can not be released into the wild. It is a very nice place for a family outing. Below are a few tips to make the trip even more enjoyable.
During the heat of the day you will see the animals napping in the shade so plan to arrive early. Currently the Ark opens at 10 a.m. from April - October. (Become a member and you'll be invited to special events in the cool of the evening when many of the animals are even more active.)
All the animals have access to shade in their enclosures, but there is little shade for humans, so bring the sun screen and maybe a hat. It usually takes our family about 1 1/2 hours to tour around. There are picnic tables near the parking area, so you might also want to bring a picnic or snacks.
Enjoy the Ark with your own pack of "wild ones". You'll be glad you did.
