A Must-See in Reno
By Sarah, 02/07/08
The Animal Ark is an amazing place. I would recommend it to people of all ages. The animals are beautiful, the staff is wonderful and helpful and it's a great place to go not too far from the city. It is definitely a must-see while visiting Reno.

EXCEPTIONAL!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/16/05
Our family has never been disappointed by a trip to Animal Ark! Although it is a relatively small facility it shelters a surprisingly diverse group of wild animals. The volunteer staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Admission is very reasonable - $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $ 4 for 3-12 years, and free for those 2 and under. For those with physical challenges they offer the use of golf carts to get around the dirt trails free of charge. For a donation others may use the carts if available. The enclosures are not overly-large but the animals each have natural living environments. Animal Ark seems like a very good place for wild animals without a home and who can not be released into the wild. It is a very nice place for a family outing. Below are a few tips to make the trip even more enjoyable. During the heat of the day you will see the animals napping in the shade so plan to arrive early. Currently the Ark opens at 10 a.m. from April - October. (Become a member and you'll be invited to special events in the cool of the evening when many of the animals are even more active.) All the animals have access to shade in their enclosures, but there is little shade for humans, so bring the sun screen and maybe a hat. It usually takes our family about 1 1/2 hours to tour around. There are picnic tables near the parking area, so you might also want to bring a picnic or snacks. Enjoy the Ark with your own pack of "wild ones". You'll be glad you did.

See The Ark BEFORE The Zoo
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/07/05
I love the fact that this sanctuary has been so dedicated to protecting these endangered animals, while allowing the public to admire the animals and even learn a little something. Great place to take the family while you're already out and about at the Reno Safari Zoo. You turn RIGHT from 395 N to go to the Ark and turn LEFT from 395 to go to the zoo. If you're coming from 395 S, just apply the directions the other way.
