Lion Habitat at The MGM Grand Hotel & Casino

Description

This is a wonderful spot at the MGM Grand to spend an hour or two gazing at the lions and cubs in their multi-level, state-of-the-art showcase and natural habitat. These pampered cats are housed off-site and rotated every few hours, so you get to see a variety of the 30 or so MGM lions. There's also a gift shop, with lots of fun toys, stuffed animals and clothing. A portion of the proceeds goes to organizations dedicated to the preservation of lions.

Dont they feed them?
By Hockeypuck, 2/27/07
Well I wont complain too much cos this attraction is free, but hey, so are the Bellagio Fountains. The lions are ok, I've seen bigger ones in India. Dont they feed these cats? Why're they so sad and downtrodden? Go only if you have time. Dont schedule it exclusivelu.

aweome freebee!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/28/06
this is awesome, the reviewers that didnt like it or not educated about this exhibit, first of all they feed the lions verynight at 900pm, it is the most beautiful and amazing thing you will see as the lions are brought 3 times around and eat in your face thr the glass, bring your camera,, also its not crowded just show up 15minutes before they feed and get your spot not inside but outside around the glass, it really is awesome and not cruel as the lions are very very well taken care off,,,trust me ive been there over 40 times in the last 5 years!!! have fun and just go early 845pm to watch them get feed,,

A very nice freebie
By JB, 4/11/06
This exhibit was actually a lot of fun. There's lots of room to see the lions and during set times throughout the day you can get your picture taken with a cub for a small fee. I was surprised at how much fun this was, you get much closer here then you ever do at a zoo.

\"BELL BOY WANTS A TIP!\"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/06
On March 31st at aproximatley 1pm, I overheard an argument taking place in the hall way. I overheard it because a caucasian bell boy named Johnny was yelling at an African American room server. He was yelling at him over a $5.00 dollar tip. The African American male told Johnny to go ahead and take the money in a soft voice, but the bell boy kept yelling at him, Saying "that is not the point, she gave that five to me, and you took it, didn't she say to give it to me?" I walked out into the hallway and told my sister-in-law (who also exited her room because of the yellling)that I can't beleive these guys are arguing over money. In actuality it was Johnny who was yelling at the quiet server. I enjoyed my stay at the MGM. Housekeping was great, the people who regestered us in were great, the atmosphere was wonderful, but it is unfortunate that one bell boy, left me with the impression that this Casino had associates with the equivilant class of husslers on the street.

Lions Oh My
By michelle, 1/6/06
I was surprised how clear the lion habitat was. I did have a little trouble seeing some of the Lions that were farther away because I didnt have my glasses so I recommend for those who need help seeing take glasses or contacts other then that it was fantastic and the Lions are really the big creatures of the kingdom and they let you know it.We went around the early evening and they were active then so thats my suggestion of when to see them. Great area for them to be shown.

Good place to visit
By Tanya, 11/10/05
This is a neat exhibit, the trainers interact with the lions and play with them. The lions are really cute and energetic. It's free too, so when you get sick of spending all your money, you can see the lions for free.

If you have time to kill
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/29/05
If you have some time to kill, definitely go see the Lion Habitat at the MGM. It is wonderful with the exception that the lions are NOT always on display and when we got there, they were off exhibit for an hour which we could not stay for to see them. It was always really jam packed with people so don't go if you don't like tight spaces. Other than that, they were very cute and worth the NON-price of admission.

Sad Faces...
By Mandylee A, 9/27/05
I think this attraction is inhumane and horrible. These poor lions are stuck in that cage that can hardly be deemed as a "habitat". They were tired and sickly looking and had absolutely no room to run! Visit this so called habitat if you want to see these animals suffering. I could hardly stand to look at them... they seemed so sad and distressed... it broke my heart
