Rio Secco Golf Club
Set among the rolling foothills of the Black Mountain Range in Las Vegas, the Rio Secco Golf Club provides a world-class golf experience unlike any other. The 18-hole, championship course is designed primarily for guests of Harrah´s and The Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino located just 12 minutes south of the Las Vegas Strip. The course is located at the foot of the Black Mountains and was cut through the desert and washes, creating wide open fairways with several sand bunkers in the landing area. The difficult, undulating greens are large and fast, being protected by bunkers. It's no wonder this course was voted the 2005 Best Course in the State from Golf Digest.
I am surprised by the comments below. I moved to Vegas about a year ago and play Rio Secco a few times a month. The service is good and the course is an outstanding championship layout. I play a lot with tourists who we get paired with and I have yet to find anyone that was not really impressed. Whatever they were doing wrong they must have fixed. Great course. I highly suggest it.
I live in Las Vegas and get the same poor customer service from the golf shop and head pro. This is the last course I consider when golfing with my golfing buddies. You'll find much better courses and golf experiences at other courses in Las Vegas that would provide a better time while golfing in Las Vegas.
Spent 4 days in Vegas to play 3 different courses and this by far was the worse. All the comments below are accurate. Horrible course conditions were made worse by horrible customer service. A recipe for disaster. I am suprised that the head pro is so anti customer. I too will go out of my way to not reccomend this course. With all the choices of courses there are better ways to spend my time and money.
Course was nothing more that a glorified muni. Burnt fairways and greens. Put a sub par course on top of horrible service and it is a very disapointing experience. We too experienced a bad experience with the head pro. He was not interested in making the experience better. His only goal was to get back to his office. If you dont like it, leave, was his attitude. I will go out of my way not to reccomend this course to anyone for thier LV golf. We have gone to LV 2-3 times a year and this was by far the worst.
We were in Vegas for a golf trip. We played 5 rounds in 4 days. Rio Secco was booked for our signature round.
High winds made condintions difficult. Fairways were horrible and the overall condition of the course was less than desirable for the reputation of this course.
We finished in 4 hours and 5 minutes during 40 mph winds and were told to speed up. Unimpressed with the service.
I'll never play it again. Way better courses for the money. Poor, poor management. Tee time, 8am on Tuesday April 15th.
We stayed in Vegas for 4 days and played 4 difference golf courses. Bali Hai golf course was the best of all. Rio Secco is also nice but the people who work there are a bunch of snobs, especially the head pro. I don't think we will be back there anytime soon!
For the money, we were very disappointed. The course does not appear to be very well taken care of, there is a lot of construction going on in the vicinity, there was no marshall to monitor slow groups or other groups jumping holes to play through a full course, the fairways and greens are browning and very uneven, and the grass was not cut evenly. Further, despite being in Las Vegas (temp. in the high 80s), there is no drinking water on the course other than purchasing it from the course and the randomly seen cart person. I suggest you play elsewhere, including the Revere at Anthem on the Lexington course (only a couple of miles from Rio Secco). The setting is better, the fairways and greens are in great shape, and the price is cheaper. I was told that Rio Secco was a must play. No one in our foursome will go back. I would rather play at The Revere or even make the drive and play any of the 3 courses at Paiute before playing Rio Secco again.
Terrific experience. Finely manicured golf course. You must play this desert course. The greens were pure and rolling at about 10 on the stimp. We rec'd a discount for $100. The round was cart path's only however it wasn't a problem. Free yardage books too!!
