Desert Rose Golf Club
This par-71, 18-hole facility is owned by Clark County and hosts their annual Amateur Golf Tournament. The Dick Wilson and Joe Lee designed course was built for all skill levels and features some of the same architectural designs as the world renowned Doral, Bay Hill and Callaway Gardens courses. The undulating fairways, lakes and challenging greens of Desert Rose will test all of your shot-making skills. Its beautiful desert setting and the fun character and atmosphere of the course make it one of the area's most popular tournament sites. There is also a driving range, putting green, restaurant and cocktail lounge. Early bird and twilight golf options are available for 9-holes.
The staff here is polite & friendly and they have actually done a fine job bringing the greens back from total sand last summer. If you can ignore some bare patches of grass and the garbage in the arroyo, it's actually a fine layout. I have played here a dozen times, but I'll never play here again.
The reason why is the people who play there. Some are terrific, but there are lots of regular players who are rude, litter, hit into players in front of them - even though that group is simply waiting for the group in front of them, & get into fistfights. This kind of dangerous, embarrassing, ridiculous behavior has been, in my experience, far too common. This is supposed to be a golf course - not a prison yard. I've done plenty of dangerous things in my life - for work and for fun - but golf is not supposed to be one of them.
If you only have a choice of quitting golf forever or playing this golf course, then QUIT GOLF FOREVER!!! This place is horrible!!! There are too many other reasonably priced courses in Vegas to play that are actually maintained. Do not waste your time and money on this dump. Trash, graffiti, and weeds were everywhere. The only positive of the entire day was that we didn't get shot getting to the course, which believe me, was a legitimate concern.
I had a group of buddies play last September at Desert Rose. We had such a memorable time back then. The staff was as nice and friendly as could be. When the guys said they wanted to do Vegas this year, there was absolutely no doubt that we were going to come right back to Desert Rose again. The staff is very professional and laid back. The price can not be matched anywhere! We'll come back on every Vegas trip as long as the course will allow us to. Love this place!
read the previous 1 star reviews which accurately describe this terrible course, that does include a river of trash, graffitti, and spooky location. Several golfers were physically beaten there in 2011. Lots of very nice alternatives to this place.
Internet rate of 39 dollars.....trash everywhere as the drainage canal goes right thru middle of course.......I guess they feel they don't need to clean this up.....also signs broken or missing....#15 flag missing......graffiti spray painted on palm tree at tee box at 16......very disappointing when your on vacation......greens recently reseeded and very dandy......also no beverage cart.......
This place is the worst golf course ever. Yes it was cheap for me to play through ez links but I would never go there again. This is a place for beginners the staff there also looks like there beginners. The only good thing that happened to me there is I was laughing so hard there in disbelief couldn't believe the condition trash everywhere smells like sewer. Our worst golf course in phoenix looks like a resort compare to this course. If u are a beginner then go and hack away. would not play there if they paid me.
This was my first Inner City Golf Course I played. And not to be disasppointed it came with all the inner city amenities, such as , grafitti, garbage, weeds. If you are a beginner, its OK. It's not worth going back to, and would not recommend going there, also the couse is a disaster, not groomed at all, can't see how they stay open, oh, I know how, it's city owned.
Do yourself a favor and go to any other course in town. Wildhorse, Black Mountain, Revere, Rhodes Ranch...etc. They are all better than this dump. This is not only the worst course in Vegas but the worst course I've ever been to in 20 years of golf. I arrived at the course 30 mins before my tee time to hear the guy in the pro shop tell the people in front of me that they would be fine with no tee time and to just go out and get a cart. After that I went out to get a cart and guess what they didn't have any. Ten minutes after my tee time I still had no cart and (no lie) 8 carts were lined up at the 1st tee (including the guys that had no tee time). The staff had absoluetly no clue what they were doing and the grafitti all over the course really put the icing on the cake.
I wish I could post photos of the condition of this place. I should have read the previous review as it's right on! Everything was dead, graffiti all over the course and only 9 holes was open becuase they "forgot" to tell me they were overseeding. I spent a total of $100, I should have just booked a nice round. It irritates me just thinking about it, so anyone who is looking to play here please listen to my advice.... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! You'll thank me!
