Steakhouse at Circus Circus
This restaurant has won several "Top Steak House" awards over the years. It offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere and some of the best steaks in town. You can also choose from entrees such as grilled chicken, and other goodies like Black Bean Soup, Caesar salad and Fresh Mushrooms sauteed in a fresh butter, sherry and lemon concoction. Desserts include Chocolate Covered Strawberries, Cheesecake and Chocolate Mousse Cake. It is located at the Circus Circus Hotel. The eatery is open for dinner all seven days of the week.
I live in Las Vegas but have never eaten at Circus Circus' The Steakhouse; and righfully so. Circus Circus is a bit, say not so on top of Las Vegas's top 10 list of Casinos to peruse through. However, for my Boyfriend's birthday, I decided to take him out for a nice, fine dining dinner--FINE DINING, I said. How could I go wrong since the rave reviews about this place make it a 5-star restaurant. Oh, and not to mention that it was voted the "Best Steakhouse 20 years in a row!" Who in the world could top that?!
Well, my fellow Cyber-Space Friends, no one could top this experience, really! It was absolutely AWFUL! To think that I chose this restaurant over the famous Morton's Steakhouse or even our local CUT Steakhouse located at the beautiful Palazzo and owned by a world-renowned Chef, Wolfgang Puck! What was I thinking?! Holy Jesus, Mother of God! Our first impression walking in was not good. The room was small, old, humid, old (oh,I already said that). As you gaze around at the patrons quietly eating, you notice that a few are dressed busines casual but MOST are dressed just as if they walked off the street (i.e. shorts, tank tops, flip-flops, muscle shirts, a man wore a bucket hat)...I think my Boyfriend and I were the only ones dressed up (nice jacket for him, and evening dress for me). The water served was from of a plastic bottle by Crystal Gyser (no VOSS at this joint---oh no Sir!). I ordered the filet with lobster tale and He ordered the porterhouse with lobster tale. Both meats were ordered MR however they came back Medium (and hard to cut--definitely did not "melt in your mouth"). The lobser? chewy and my drawn butter, cold). Oh and did I mention that the food was room temperture? Yea, the food, including our garlic mashed potatoes was at room temperture. The flavor of the food? Well, I'm glad you asked! Bland and blah (is "blah" even a flavor? Well, that's the new flavor at this "fine establishment". My 18 year old could have whipped up a better tasting steak dinner at home! I was TRULY DISAPPOINTED. I spent a whopping $177.64 for the two of us (no wine included). IT WAS A MESS and I was embarrased to say the least. This is Vega's "Best Steakhouse"? Gimme a break. And for all those folks who give this place a 5-star rating, where in the world have you people eaten for the "best steak"? Outback? Oh wait, wait, Ponderosa Steakhouse! Yeah, really, what a way to compare. C'mon. If you have NEVER been to a FINE STEAKHOUSE, where PRIME USDA grade steaks are served, please DO NOT give your review. Cause YOU HAVE NO IDEA. The steaks at the Steahouse are graded less than Prime, by the way. I should have asked BEFORE we went. Next time, I'll know better. Really. Stick to the pros (like Peter Lugar in NYC---now that's an awesome steak)! Locally, stick to places like Morton's and Mr. Puck (heck, even Ruth's Chris is better than this place) Next time, we will be dining in one of these restaurants.
After reading all the review before going to Vegas we thought the steak will "melt in your mouth". What a total disappointment. For the price you have to pay it was very mediocre. The steak was extremely expensive, $47 for a rib-eye and it was a thin piece of meat!! You are better off going to the capital grill....heck even Outback is better. I think all the people that gave good reviews got comps from the casino. If you have to pay out of your own pocket, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
My husband and I make several trips to Vegas a year. We always make it a point to visit the Steakhouse. The portions are always HUGE. I usually order the small (or petite as they call it) prime rib and it covers over half the plate! We've never been disappointed and will continue to make this our top choice!
There was not one thing that I did NOT like about it. It was everything and more than I was expecting. I got the Rib Eye and oh my god, it was wonderful. I can't wait to go back. Service was perfect, the waitress we had was very professional and never kept us waiting for drinks or anything else. Very very nice. Highly reccomend.
We did ALOT of research before our trip to Vegas concerning where to go for the best steak. We made reservations at The Steakhouse at Circus, Circus and at Prime at The Bellagio. We ordered the NY Strip Steak on the recommendation of the waiter as being the perfect combination of tenderness and flavor. Well, we were both shocked when we started eating our steak. It was probably the TOUGHEST steak we have ever had. Yes - and call us STUPID but we didn't say anything. My husband doesn't like confrontation especially since we were on vacation. As he was eating his steak, I asked if it was tender and he said, "not really". Right then, we should have sent it back. BUT....after all the good reviews - that meat should have never even gotten to our table! Where was the TENDER MEAT everyone was talking about??? Certainly not here - and I've been a beef eater from years ago when beef was almost always tender - even cuts from regular grocery stores! REALLY, REALLY disappointed in The Steakhouse! IF you go here, take it from us, if your beef is not tender - SEND IT BACK. We have decided to ALWAYS to that from now on no matter what! (Oh yeah, especially after seeing that movie where the staff spits on food that patrons send back, can't remember the name of it now )
I went to the Steak House with my wife after reading all the reviews. Total disappointment is the best I can say about the place. I ordered the ribeye (MR) and my wife the filet mignon(MW)and lobster. Ribeye had no flavor and was very difficult to cut (surprisingly the steak knife was very sharp). Filet mignon came back medium rare (MR) instead of medium well(MW). Lobster was very rubbery. Stick with the Top of the World at the Stratosphere, you're better off.
Don't get me wrong, this place has a wonderful steak! I had the filet mingon and my boyfriend had the porterhouse. My filet was pretty much perfect! His porterhouse was a bit burnt on the outside edges though which kind of disappointed us. The sides/salad/bread was very good! This place has a wonderful atmosphere, very romantic! Strange considering it's inside the horrible Circus Circus hotel!
Our waiter started out wonderfully, reccomending me a great wine. However, my boyfriend and I are younger and he had three other tables with older people and we got totally ignored, I guess he was thinking being young we'd stiff him on the tip! Well we gave him way more than he should have gotten, he was pretty rude the rest of the night to us after taking our orders.
We were too full for dessert, but it looked delicious! Improve the waitstaff and this place will be A+.
The best thing the Steakhouse has going for it is ROSA, longtime hostess. If she ever leaves, it would be a travesty!!! She anticipates and fulfills your expectaions to the MAX!! Love her!! Sue and Ben Reali
