Samba Brazilian Steakhouse
Specializing in Rodizio or skewered meat, this restaurant has a unique method of interaction between diners and staff. There is constant serving of the fabulous grilled meats, and when you need to rest your stomach, you flip a little 'samba doll' to red and the servers will pass you by. Flip it to green, and food will start arriving again. Each table is supplied with dipping sauces and then the selections of beef, chicken, sausage, pork and turkey start to arrive. The eatery is located in the Mirage Hotel. Reservations suggested.
Let's see, EVERYTHING! Service was pathetic, food bad, all in a lovely casino ambiance!
We went here a few years ago thinking it might be wonderful like Fogo de Chao or Texas de Brazil...uh, NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!
I honestly can't believe this place is still open!!!
I just ran across it as we're heading back to Vegas and we wanted to see if Fogo or Texas de Brazil had opened a location. No Fogo yet, but, Texas de Brazil location! GO THERE INSTEAD. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
My boyfriend and I wanted to have one last great meal in Vegas before we left, and boy was this the place! We both had the New York steak and both him and I couldn't get over how amazing they were. You get a lot of food and it was delicious!! Can't wait to go back!
This was the absolute most horrific dining experience that I have ever had. The staff was rude and lacodaisical. There were fruit flies buzzing around. The drinks were the worst I have ever had. The meat was dry and tasted like old barbecue. The service was so bad that I asked for a manager. She was masked in heavy mascara and bright blue eyeshadow. I thought maybe I had gone to a freak show. She then tried to excuse the mistakes of her waitress by saying that I was the problem. I was very embarrassed that I chose such a nasty restaraunt for my clients. Save your money, energy, and time for something palatable.
My wife and I have travelled throughout the world, and appreciate good food and service. What first caught my attention was that, none of the staff is from Brazil. Once seated and beverages were served, the waiter dissapeared for over 30 minutes. I was very thirsty, and I can see him serving a table no more than 10 feet away and he didn't even looked our way. Of course, I had to say something. When asked for the manager, a lady approached our table and very superficially said 'I'm sorry' but did not call the waiter. I asked for a card, she just smiled and walked away. I call other waiters and demanded to speak with the owner, which took his sweet time, and when finally came over, also said 'I'm sorry' The difference was that the owner offered to 'make things right', he also mentioned that they were understaffed (on a Saturday night in Vegas, you do not understaff !). At that point, over 50 minutes, still with any beverages, they took an additional 20 minutes to bring the check. Horrible, the worst part is, that my brother and his wife were visiting from NYC and had to see me complain and be in a bad mood due to poor service. Never again! Do not be tricked by the few good review, this place is NOT WORTH your hard earned money!
There are so many words to describe Samba. Gross, disgusting, awful, low grade, and disappointing. We decided to go with the tasting of all meats. ALL meats were tasteless, low grade, and GREASY! At one point I looked at my plate and saw standing oil/grease. The 10.99 buffet at the Statosphere was 10 times better than Samba- which says a lot. My husband was sick after eating the meal (probably because of the grease) and we had to stay in after eating. Not worth the $40 per person we spent, not even worth $10.
Everything was pretty much average. We went in a group of 8, and they accomodated us well. We all had THE ALL YOU CAN EAT RODIZIO EXPERIENCE which was quite a feast of meat. But there were only a few of the meats I enjoyed. Overall, it's an alright place to eat, but there are so many better cusines in Vegas.
For starters, we made reservations but ended up waiting for a table for over 15 minutes. We were still very excited to sit down to eat, dispite the waiting. The menu doesn't have very much to offer aside from the rodizio meal for $34.95. If you had questions, you can forget about getting any useful information or recommendations from the waitstaff. Our waiter spoke very poor English and it was painful to hear him try and explain ANYTHING on the menu. He had very little patience if you had questions. It got to the point where i would rather guess what i was eating rather than listen to his broken english half-hearted explanation. There were 6 of us that were dining and it was also my wife's 30th birthday celebration. We had mentioned the birthday when making the reservations, expecting the staff to acknowledge the occassion as desert was ordered. They didn't do anything of any sort to acknowledge the birthday. I could of brought my wife to TGIF's and they would at least sing happy-birthday and bring out a piece of cake. When a different waiter finally arrived with the first skewer of meat - he dripped juice all over our table, our friends and even into some of the glasses we were drinking out of. Most of the food was absoultley horrible! All the meat (chicken, steak, flank steak, and pork) were dried up and tasteless. THe ribs were over cooked (hard and grey, with WAY to much fat on them. It wasnt just one or two of us that didnt like it - it was ALL 6!!! We kept thinking "the next selection will be good." Nope! We finally got some new clean plates after asking two different servers. We quickly filled those with food that we took a bite or two out of and didnt eat. In the hour we spent there, I was only able to get one refill on my diet coke. I ended up asking one of the servers who brought out the meat skewers and his response was "now your pushing it". He may have been joking or trying to be funny, but we weren't in the mood. I was thirsty and had disgusting meat taste in my mouth without anything to wash it down. For $35 per person, I was expecting alot more quality in the food and service we were receiving. It was very disapointing. I do have to say that the salad was good - so it was basically like buying a 35 dollar salad because that was all I could eat from this place. We ended up asking for the manager and one of the 3 or 4 different waiters quickly asked "why, what was the problem?". He wasn't asking as if he was concerned that we didn't like the food, he said it with attitude and cockiness. The manager finally comes over to our table and she was very rude and condescending. We told her the food was cold, overcooked and tasteless - we also let her know the service was unacceptable. She basically rolled her eyes and said "what do you want me to do?". One of us asked her, "have you tried these ribs?". She responded by telling us yes, that she eats there everyday. She then told us we already ate most of the food, so what did we expect her to do? I told her no we didnt already eat - look at our plates they are FULL with food we took one bite out and spit out!!! Finally we said we told you how we felt, just do what you think is right to compensate us. She walked away without saying a word and about 10 minutes later another waiter ( our 3rd or 4th of the night )came over with our check. She took off 3 of the 6 meals for our dissatisfaction. I have never had such horrible service in my entire life. We were also looking around at all the other tables and people seemed to be having the same experience. Not once did our waiter(s) ask how the meal was, or does anybody need anything to drink. Stay away from this place unless your idea of fine-dining is dried & tasteless low quality meats and servers who could careless about your dining experience.
It wasn't that bad but not worth the money. The restaurant is open to the casino and loud. Some meets were good, others were dry and tough. A "fine" restaurant should not have TVs in the corner. The food was OK but not great. Frankly, we had a better time at Denney's for breakfast the next day. (OK - that is a stretch but not by much) If you really want a nice meal, I suggest the Eiffel Tower restaurant if you want to impress your spouse. The service and food was incredible, the atmosphere was top notch and the price was slightly less (Paris for lunch vs samba dinner).
I really dont want to sound like a negative person and typically Im not.I am not a nitpicker or someone who was in a bad mood when I went to Samba.
In fact My wife and I went with a group of 6 and had a great time....only because of the company.
How should I say this....Bad.
Plain and simple. The worst food I have ever been served in a restaraunt. My wife was ill, we cut our evening short, and there was no booze involved.
Just bad, food was lukewarm, the steak, or waht they call steak, was of the flank variety and very chewy. The service was subpar.
The next day my friend who made the reservations was so embarrassed and apologetic. When we all finally got together, not one person enjoyed the Food.
