Henry Doorly Zoo, Omaha

It was horrible smelled bad!!! It was not fun to much hills!!!!!!!!! very dangerous!! Never go back there again

My husband and I love zoos, and we had heard so much about this one. we were disappointed. There is some unique things, the desert dome etc. Other thank that, not a lot of animals and there is a lot of walking to each enclosure. the big cats looked underfed... Don't get me wrong it is okay, just in our opinion no where near the best.

We lived in Nebraska for 4 years now and have had a zoo membership for each year. I love this zoo. The exhibits are nice and my kids love it. We always go to see the animals and we never do any of the extra stuff EXCEPT this trip I decided to let the kids go on the merry-go-round that they have there. Its 2 dollars per child to ride and if your child is under 42' you can ride with them. Anyway i paid the 8 dollars for me and the kids to go on the ride. They were so excited, specially my 2 and 4 year old....THE RIDE WENT IN ONE COMPLETE CIRCLE AND STOPPED..."thank you pls wait until it comes to a complete stop and exit to your right." All the parents were lookin at each other in confusion and the little kids started whining. SERIOUSLY!! TWO DOLLARS FOR A 15 SECOND RIDE...We stopped half a foot from when we started!!!

I would prefer free ice cream at the gate. I would not eat it, but the penguins will. When I go to the zoo, it is warm outside and so I go inside. The gift shop asks too much money for a poster and I want it for free. Sometimes I see animals fly around outside of their cages but my mom tells me they are not part of the zoo. So I think this means they get in for free, and that makes me mad.

This zoo was over hyped. It was as good as the Kansas City Zoo. Some features were good(Aquarium, Desert Dome, Gorilla Enclosure), but the rest were just typical. Bear and cat enclosures too small. Also it was a little too hilly, it was a real workout pushing a stroller around.

Very good zoo. Have not expected to find such a good zoo in Omaha. The highlights (not to be missed exhibits) are: Lied Jungle, Scott Kingdoms of the Seas Aquarium, Simmons Aviary, Desert Dome, and Cat Complex amongst others. However some suggestions from my side: 1. The signposting inside Zoo is very poor to say the least. And we had to struggle a lot with having to open the paper map every few seconds. This must be improved. Also the paper map was not of very high quality as by the time we came towards end of tour, the map was in almost three pieces due to the heavy use it was subjected throughout day (lack of proper signposting). SUGGESTION TO VISITORS: Get 2-3 copies of map till such time this situation improves. 2. I couldn't help but notice that too much non-vegetarian stuff was being served within the Zoo permises, and I find this situation to be ironic for a Zoo. I guess it would be better if more vegan stuff could be offered inside the zoo.

great zoo i have never been to a better zoo its the greatest and i have been to central park zoo

Been to this zoo 3 different times over many years and saw lots of positive changes. The new exhibits seem very well planned and attractive. It seems though that they didn't even care about cleaning & maintaining the older exhibits and cages. Apparently the sea lion pool is an old public swimming pool that looks like it hasn't been redone in many years. The rain forest dome and aquarium are the neatest things. The desert dome and everglades was very boring. No way out of the everglades part unless you go out the emergency exit and it is too dark to even see anything. Little kids were screaming and crying probably because it was so dark. To see certain animals you have to do a lot of walking to the back of the zoo, no easy way there and animals are very spaced out, unlike the front of the zoo were everything seems all together. It is a very nice zoo, just wish they seemed to care about all of their animals and exhibts and not just some things.

Got to go!!!!!! Love the zoo. Don't worry about the weather, most of the exhibits are inside anyway. Nice people, nice animals, what else do you need? Where was Marlin and Jim?

I have been to several zoos. This one is the best in the United States. It makes the San Diego look like the geto zoo.
