Fantastic public course
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/06
For my money, Benson is the finest public course in the Omaha area. In fact, this course stacks up well against any muni course I've played in any city. Challenging but fair golf, with scenic views, elevated tees, a few tricky greens, and a 470-yard par 4 that can become an obsession.
A winding creek comes into play approximately 5000 times. Great groundswork keeps this course in excellent shape all through the season.
The clubhouse might as well be a semi-trailer with plumbing, but it's got what you need (unless you need a good cigar), there's a nice deck area outside, and you go to Benson to play golf anyway.
Forget The Knolls and Johnny Goodman. Forget the golf-in-a-housing-development courses out west. Benson is Omaha's secret gem.
In fact, forget this review. Don't play Benson. I'd rather keep the speed of play as it is today. . . .
