For my money, Benson is the finest public course in the Omaha area. In fact, this course stacks up well against any muni course I've played in any city. Challenging but fair golf, with scenic views, elevated tees, a few tricky greens, and a 470-yard par 4 that can become an obsession.
A winding creek comes into play approximately 5000 times. Great groundswork keeps this course in excellent shape all through the season.
The clubhouse might as well be a semi-trailer with plumbing, but it's got what you need (unless you need a good cigar), there's a nice deck area outside, and you go to Benson to play golf anyway.
Forget The Knolls and Johnny Goodman. Forget the golf-in-a-housing-development courses out west. Benson is Omaha's secret gem.
In fact, forget this review. Don't play Benson. I'd rather keep the speed of play as it is today. . . .
Just golfed at Benson yesterday and found the course in great shape. It is hard to believe that this is a city course. I found the course to be much more enjoyable than most courses in Omaha. Very reasonable too. The clubhouse was not that spectacular but I was not spending time in the clubhouse. There is not much help if you are female though. My wife was with me and the ranger was on us on the 1st and 2nd hole. She is a 6 handicap and has no problem on the course.
Benson Park is a well maintained, challenging public golf course. The front nine is fairly easy because of the wide open fairways and easy greens. There are two challenging holes in # 3 and # 5. The back nine is very long and a bit more difficult than the front nine. You will enjoy this course if you play it.
New golfers will find this par three course fairly forgiving, but that does not mean it is easy. Nine holes
feature bent grass with water in play. A lighted driving range makes practice convenient. Golfers can hit from both ...
This large green space sits in the middle of the city. You cannot miss it while driving down busy Dodge
Street. A sea of lush, green grass reaches up to a white monument dedicated to Omahans who died in ...
This city golf course features nine holes and bent grass with water in play. The par 35 makes it a
solid game for golfers of all skill levels. As with many other small, public courses, there is no driving ...
