Howard's Charro Cafe
Located near a number of Omaha attractions, including Henry Doorly Zoo and Rosenblatt Stadium, this restaurant offers authentic Mexican food at affordable prices (entrees range from $7-$9). With an atmosphere both casual and festively ethnic, this restaurant promises to be an excellent choice for a variety of dining occasions. Homemade taco shells and tortilla chips turn the everyday a la carte into a specialty item. On Friday and Saturday, guests enjoy the live music of Howard's own mariachi band.
I have been going to Howard's since it was on 24th & Q. The food is magnificent and the service is great. Dolores, Deb, Kim and the rest of the staff are the best! My favorite fix once a week - also finish off the great dinner with one of their great margaritas!
I have been a regular at Howard's since the early 1970's when they were in the little yellow house on S. 24th Street. It has always been a great value, but the quality of the food has never slipped. Very unusual for a restaurant to keep such consistently high standards for such a long time. It is not the best Mexican food in town, it is the best food in town. I have never had a tostada anywhere else that stays crisp throughout your entire meal. Everyone else's falls apart in your hand. I command you to go there. You will love it. Great atmosphere on Friday and Saturday with Mariachis.

My family has been eating at Howard's for more than 30 years (when my brother was still in a car seat and the restaurant was located in an old house), and it's still the BEST Mexican food I've ever had. Every place I eat I compare to Howard's and it's never good enough. I can't get enough when I'm there.
The ambiance isn't worth writing home about, but who cares when the food is so dang good.
I live 3 hours away now, and I wouldn't think twice about at a moment's notice if someone suggested it. There's just no equal!
I absolutely love everything about Howard's food. They have a good presentation, and it is a classic family Mexican restaurant. It is the best Mexican food I have ever had, and I come from a Mexican family.
