Lo Sole Mio Ristorante Italiano
The aroma of authentic Italian food greets you at the door. Guests choose from a variety of freshly made pastas and sauces, thin crust pizzas and other tasty options. Two can dine for $30-$40. The decor is casual, so informal dress is recommended. Although this is a perfect place for dinner with someone special, space is at a premium. The parking lot is small, and, since no reservations are accepted, the wait for a table can average at least an hour on the weekends. Lo Sole Mio's Villa, located across the street, offers several comfortable party rooms and private parking.
i've been there before for lunch and it was really good but i went for valentines day and a very rude and snotty hostess told me it was a 3 hour wait and that the bar was full. that i could leave my name and come back if i wanted. the people at the bar looked like they were at the airport after having been delayed for two hours. no server at the bar even thought there were several tables. they obviously didnt prepare for a busy day. no management to check on folks this place really has gone down hill.
We went here for a special dinner occasion,it was'nt so special. The servings are much too large,as is the price. They should serve smaller servings with smaller prices. I had eggplant with spaghetti for $14.95,the price of a steak, at a steakhouse,or a shrimp dinner at picollos. The entire dish was lukewarm, but once i get my food it never leaves my sight. So I took most of it home, and added prego to it for lunch the next day,and it was much better. My husband had lasagna,he says it was soggy, like it had been defrosted. lukewarm too.I believe it was about $14.also,too hi for ground beef and pasta. He said stouffers is better. The sauces on both dishes were bland and a bit bitter. the salads were good.
I also like to put my own food in the take out box. They will not let you do this. I think it is because they dont want you to add any bread or cheese etc. to your box.
Their food is absolutely the best. We come from Lincoln just to eat there at least twice a year.
It is family friendly, but we always leave the kids at home because I love the house wine!
The roasted garlic spreads like butter on the bread and is delicious to just eat by itself.
The food and wine were great. The service was awful. We spent over three hours there and felt like uninvited guests instead of customers. This place is an institution in Omaha so they don't seem to care if they lose a few customers here or there.
We've been going to Lo Sole Mio for several years. The atmosphere is a bit crowded and noisy. You don't want to go there weekends as the wait is terrible. Good Italian, but missing veal dishes and some other "standards". The wait staff review in detail the use of olive oil and roasted garlic no matter how many times you tell them you've been there. The updside is the food that is on the menu is good. The portions are way too large for most to eat in one sitting. Deserts so-so. ot a cookie-cutter chain, it is still a fun place to eat.
The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great! Very long wait; we were told 1 hour and it was almost 2 hours. The Coke in the mixed drinks was flat and the server was snooty and his manner was rude. Lots of ordering rules and would not give individual tickets for our group of 11. We would return, but request a different server.
I used to eat at Lo Sole Mio a lot when I lived in Omaha years ago when they first opened. I moved to Lincoln about 5 or 6 years ago and just recently decided to eat there again with my boyfriend and mother as I TOTALLY missed their food. My favorite dish used to be the Pasta Alla Carbonara and this is what I ordered. After one bite I was totally disappointed! It did not taste like what I remembered. The richness of it was gone and it was very bland. My mom told me she had read the son cooks in the kitchen and he had went on a diet, so he took all the transfats out of the food, and boy it shows! My boyfriend gave me a taste of his spaghetti with meat sauce and it was very bland and tasted like dog food. My mom was disappointed with her spaghetti and meatballs. I think they made a mistake in changing the way they cook their food. I mean, isn't going to an authentic Italian restaurant all about eating the rich, heavy, cream based, high fat food that is delicious???? I felt very bad after my boyfriend paid $60 and I had talked this place up forever to him, only to be very disappointed. We ended up throwing away our boxed leftovers in a dumpster. I hate to say it, but I will never eat here again and it is no longer my most favorite Italian place to eat. Grisanti's and Olive Garden are much better. In fact, I can make a better spaghetti with Ragu and hamburger than what they served. Sorry Lo Sole Mio, but I think you should go back to the way you used to cook your food like the old days.
The food is incredible. Customer service could use some work. I left 3 messages with the place trying to reserve their room for my wedding rehearsal dinner. No response to any of them! I wish their event planning was as good as their food. Bad customer service! They just lost some good business.
I always have a great time at this restaurant. Remarkably consistent and friendly. Pound for pound, one of your best values in the Omaha area. I always have to wait for a table...and I never mind. Sit in the bar and have a drink and have an appetizer. I prefer the upstairs bar to the basement however. Kitschy Italian that does not take itself too seriously. I love the arrabiatta pasta and the bread.
I went to this restaruant tonight with freinds
and although the portions were big and the service was alright the food was not. We had heard this place
was great and read the reviews others had written
and I won't return. I found myself using the salt and pepper alot just to get rid of the bland taste, it
didn't help. The reviews we read were that the food was great Iam not sure why it got such great reviews
I just know I thought It was too much money and
very not so good food. After getting home I talked to my neighbor who said they had ate at lo sole mios
last year and he said they weren't inpressed either,
it's to bad I didn't talk to him before going.
