Ahmad's Persian Cuisine
Omaha's only Persian restaurant, one of only a handful in the region, offers fine Middle Eastern dining. A small, intimate dining room dressed in bright blue walls and ornate tapestries and linens features wide windows that open to a street-side view of the Old Market. The outdoor patio offers one of the best alfresco dining rooms in the city. The Persian menu features chicken, seafood and lamb entrees, in addition to a wide range of kabob selections. Expect to pay about $25 per person for dinner.
For anyone who would love to experience Persian cuisine, i suggest they try elsewhere. This is as close to Persian food as Taco Bell is as close to Mexican food. There are several Persian staples that appear nowhere on the menu and are not available upon request. Doog or Dug[sp] is a simple drink of yogurt and soda water that is omnicient in Iran and yet appears nowhere on the menue. Other simle meals that are much more appealing than anything on this menu would be Gorma-Sabsi and Ta-Shin. The kebab is really weak and everything on the menu seems a little half-hearted. Take it from someone who has had the pleasure of eating genuine home-cooked persian food prepared by great people from various regions in Iran, that THIS IS NOT PERSIAN FOOD! Unfortunately for Omahans, this is really the only option purporting to serve Persian cuisine. So if you really have a craving for some Persian food, or what you think is Persian food, I urge you to attempt to make it yourself from one of the many online cookbooks available, or eat at one of Omaha's several fine Indian restaurants as the food will be better and just as close to real Persian food as Ahmad's.
I'm not going into what I dislike once again, but my original review is also missing. Hmmm...I followed Yahoo's so-called guidelines. Although my review was negative, I attempted to provide useful information for individuals new to Persian cuisine. I'm very disappointed in this service.
experience not to be soon forgotten!

Ahmad's was an excellent reminder for me of Iran and my childhood experiences there. I spent nearly 6 years in Tehran as a young boy and teenager. The experience brought me back to some very memorable times. The food, atmosphere and total experience were fantastic. Thank you Ahmad for your preservation of traditions & memories. Also the 2 goldfish for Nowruz was an excellent added touch.
This was the story of my old friend in iran back in 30 years ago who i have been looking for & by chance found him in your site, please may i kindly ask you to help us to get in contact in any way possible. It would be a grate historical event that we could celebrat in real Ahmad's Persian cuisine's with your sponcership. May i in advance thank you for your kindnesshipment.
I had written a review several months ago and it's no where on your list! I find that very curious. It definately was a negative review.
Ahmad the owner eats his meals and drinks on your tab! He'll sit with you and chit chat and be very firendly - check your bill people because he has charged this food and drink to your tab. His waitresses are in on it.
I didn't use to be very adventurous with trying new food, but I bit the bullet and tried it. Thank goodness I did, it is the best! When I'm asked where I want to go for dinner, Ahmad's is my answer! Unfortunately, I can't go as often as I wish because it is a little expensive, but I go as often as I can! The Soltani Kabob is my favorite, and I love the rice with the fried tomato! Ahmad's is the BEST! As others have said, it's a little short on space in their, but they do have a patio to use in warmer weather.
My fiance took me to Ahmad's for the first time this weekend. I'd never had Persian food before, and I'm always afraid to try new foods, but this was awesome! Ahmad is very sweet man, very friendly.
I can't wait to go back and try something new.
I travel to Omaha on business and after going to Ahmad's the first time I will be planning my trips around dinner! Ahmad is a fabulous host and the meals are some of the best I have ever had...anywhere. Out of the ordinary and out of this world!
Everything is simply amazing! A trip to Ahmad's is perfect for a first date, business lunch, pre formal dinner or for every day enjoyment.
Every dish on the menu is fantastic and the atmosphere is second to none.
If you like awesome food and want to be entertained by the best restaurant owner in town=go there! You will not be disappointed. My family and I have been going there for years and the consistent quality of the food and the unique atmosphere have remained unmatched.
