Jody Newman and Barbie Freund founded this non-profit organization in 1975 with the goal of creating an interactive museum that attracts, educates, and entertains both children and adults. First Impressions is one of the world's largest movable sculptures, standing over eight feet tall. Lean against it for fun and make an impression of yourself. Learn about magnets, electricity or about the environment through hands-on activities such as the Oil Spill Cleanup project, or be a star on the KIDS-TV station.
This place is a great place to bring the kids. The three-story slide is great and all of the little activites is a great way to spend time with you family and friends. This is definatly a must-see while in St.Louis!
We travel often, around the country and we have been to many children's attractions. The Magic House Children's Museum is by far the best children's museum we have every seen. It is huge and the kids never run out of new things to do and explore. We have been a few times now and my children still beg every weekend to go back. The place is second only to Disney World!
The only drawback to The Magic House is the crowds which limits the hands on experience. The positives do outweigh the negatives. It is unlike the usual museum experience since the children are able to get involved. The pretend town is particularly exciting for young kids.
Wow- this place is appropriately named! My kids were amazed and frankly so was I. If you are in the St. Louis area you need to see this place. Our only regret was that the next day on the kids menu at Chevy's there was a buy one get one free admission coupon- always a day late, huh? Even at full price though it is so worth it!
Now the Magic House is just that MAGESTIC. I used to go when I was a child, and now I take my child. It filled with wonderful art, music, activities and pure fun. Your children will love it here and it's educational. Both for you and your children. The only problem you may have is not wanting to leave.
My kids were 6yrs and 3yrs when we went for the first time. I had heard so many good things about the Magic house being sooo much fun for kids and I thought itwas a bit disappointing. The items for them to do are time consuming and to me boring for the price you pay to get in. Its was also very crowded. We will probably never go back!!
Ok I liked that I could find "buy one get one free" admissions online, saved me some money, they had some good ideas there but I was just overall disappointed in it.
I took an 8 yr old, and two 2 year olds. the 8 yr old enjoyed it the most, as most of the museum was geared toward the older children. mostly my kids played in the sand area, went magnet fishing, and played in the water we do all these things at home on a regular basis for free!! There were no hand held maps (only on some walls) so i wasn't sure where we had been and where we should go? there were lots of climbing ladders, etc going from floor to floor which were not intended for adults so it was hard to let the kids go and still not lose them (good idea, bad execution) Many of the activities did not have instructions, or just did not work (like when u push the button it was supposed to talk but didnt) we were there for about 2 hours and it was also uncomfortably warm.
Overall, the kids had an ok time, parents were bored and disappointed trying to keep up with everyone and keep kids entertained, do not think it was worth the time or money for this trip MIGHT return when the kids are older, but probably not. Sorry, would not recommend this for your trip, go to the zoo!
