This is basically a restaurant for chicken lovers, but there are a few other items on the menu. The kitchen makes a great picnic lunch, while the bar has a good selection of beer, wine and mixed drinks. You can also order a meal to take home. See their website for further details. While the both the decor and dress code are casual, a select group of businesses chooses this restaurant to cater their parties and meetings. The clientele ranges from business executives to families and college kids. Hodak's serves deliciously crispy fried chicken with cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans and America's number one dessert, apple pie.

Best in town
By Linda, 01/12/09
The atmosphere, the staff and the owners are wonderful people, friendly and very willing to please you. It is a great old restaurant that serves the best chicken I have every eaten at any restaurant.

Good food, for cheap
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/11/06
Hodak's has become a favorite in our family, especially when it comes to birthday parties! It's a little known fact but you will recieve a free meal on your birthday. The food is good, hot and very reasonable. I have had some problems with service, especially during the lunch hour on Thursdays and Friday's. It's best to call in your order and pick it up to go. (Also, where else in STL can you go to get frog's legs?) I give it 2 thumbs up!

A St. Louis Gem
By Barbara, 11/11/05
I have been to Hodak's many times and never had bad food or service. The chicken is great especially with their sauce. I consider myself a chicken con- noisseur and this is one of the best places to go for fast service and good food. It's true that it can be crowded but I go at the beginning of the lunch or dinner hour and never have to wait.

Poor service!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/06/05
I would rate our first (and I might add, last) visit a poor one. The waitress was surly and barely came around during the meal. My husband and son sat with empty glasses for 90% of the meal. My food was substandard and I left about 85% percent of the meal on my plate, the waitress did not even ask what the problem was. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone!!

Don't Waste Your Time
By Chris, 08/28/05
While the prices are certainly reasonable (that must be why this place stays busy), the service is the worst I have experienced in St Louis. Everyone seems to be be in a bad mood and seems to have forgotten that it's the customers that keep them in business. If service isn't an issue for you and price is, then perhaps you will enjoy your meal. Otherwise, if you want great fried chicken with a real "down home" feel AND good service, don't stop here. There are plenty of other quality restaurants in the area to try. Although it's a drive, Eckert's Country Farm is probably a good place to start.

I LOVE the fried chicken!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/13/05
I like the comfortable atmosphere and the friendly wait staff. I don't really eat much breaded, fried food but I cannot resist Hodak's chicken - I get a craving and I have to have it!

stop in whenever I can
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/11/04
two can eat for less than $20 sometimes there is a line but don't let that stop you. It doesn't take long and the food and service is great.

a True St. Louis Landmark
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/31/04
Well, if the long lines don't tell you anything... you will be in for a surprise. The service is great. The folks are very friendly. The food is VERY good and a great value to boot!

Hopefully, this St. Louis institution will last! :-)

It is a great place to visit whether you are a guest of this city or have lived here forever.

I highly recommend it.
