The ambience of understated elegance at Chez Leon is reminiscent of an authentic Parisian bistro. For an appetizer try the excellent pate; a different variety made fresh each night. The robust French onion soup (gratinee) is another traditional hit. The menu features a wealth of splendid entrees, notably the red snapper with the chef's special red sauce and the beef filet. See their website for further information.
My date and I actually order one prix fixe and the kitchen actually split up the entrees on two plates!! right on!! The french onion soup is the best in the world!!! I had the veal in a beurre blanc and the plate also had haricots verts, glazed carrots, ratatouille....It was very good, on my next return to st. louis I willl make it a point to return there. The maitre'd d came around several times and the service was very attentive.
We had a party of 13. Our 3 course plats(38$)
took 3 and 1/2 hours. We had to ask for water, rolls and tea. The only thing that came often was the wine. The owner sat nearby and never came to the table. Very over-rated for the money. Try somewhere else.
I went there for my friend's birthday party. He made the reservation and told them that it was his birthday. The service was not that great. We had a party of 15 and they had us at three different tables. My friend was served last and had to wait an additional 20 minutes for dessert. I asked the owner about this and he made up a story about where he was from France. More less, he could not find a valid excuse. He said that the host was always served last and that is his policy. I told him that he was not the host and that it was his birthday. He apologized, however did not do anything about it. I ordered a pork dish and it was very dry. I will not return to this establishment. And to add fuel to the flame, the waiter gave the entire bill to my friend. This place is a complete joke
The food is superb and the guys that work there are great! I absolutely love it! It's worth the wait for the food and worth the prices as well! Wonderful french cuisine! Good options and really yummy desserts!
This place is as close to Paris as you can get without jet lag!! Leon and his staff make you feel at home. The place is warm and welcoming, without being pretentious. Great food, great wine list, great atmosphere - what more can one ask for!!
Chez Leon was nothing short of perfect. All three courses - salad, entree, and dessert - were absolutely phenomenal. This is my new favorite restaurant!
Go at night and sit outside. You'll feel like you are at a Parisian cafe. The tables have white linen tablecloths and candles - very romantic. Great place for a night out with someone you love!
The menu is in French and English; this is the perfect restaurant to take any Francophile. I ordered "salade lyonnaise","steak-frites", and "creme brulee". Everything was great, I cannot compliment Chez Leon enough.
There was absolutely nothing I disliked. The service from our waiter was superb. The food was the best french food or any other kind of food I can remember enjoying so much. The delicious sauces. yum. Oh my gosh words cannot tell. They will have to try for themselves and I am sure you won't be disappointed. The owner came to our table and was so kind and gracious, just very sincere.
You don't have to travel all over this country and Europe, we've got it all right here. Thanks for the delightful dining experience.
