Oceans of Fun
One way to beat the Kansas City summer heat is to venture to the city's biggest water park. Located next to its sister amusement park, Worlds of Fun , this 60-acre park has slides, wave pools, streams and float rides offering relaxing, cool days for adults and children alike. Refreshments are available on the park premises. Individual season passports are also available. Check website for varying open hours.
it was my first time there in many years, family of 10 went on sunday july 08. The service is so bad, it must be a bad place to work, because the people that work there really seem to have a bad attitude, they are mad they have to be there. we had to wait 30 minutes while sitting at the swim up bar that was not crowded. When you try to get the bartender to make some sort of eye contact or acknowledge you you can tell they are pissed. She told us to just wait- while she took her time wiping counter down, no sense of urgency at all. took my 5 yr old niece to bathroom by wave pool at 6:15 the girl said this bathroom is closed. Ii told her its 6:15 park doesnt close until 7, so excuse me and took her to use the restroom. On the slides you look at the person who tells you to go ahead and go, but some of them just look at you like your taking up there time. Didnt see a smile on any persons face that works there, except for security. The slides are fun the lazy river -great. locker rental $10 rafts $8 a beer $6.75 water almost $4 wouldnt mind paying these prices if it was service with even a fake smile omg all of the people are rude, rude, rude. Very sad.
The pizza restaurant by the wave pool has the worst service I have ever experienced anywhere in my life. It took 58 minutes to get 3 order of breadsticks and the people ahead of us waited over an hour for two pizzas. The people behind the counter were slow and not friendly at all. Other stands and restaurants had nice people, this place was horrible. It took 20 minutes just to get the drinks we ordered. The line built up to over 20 people while we were waiting and they were there still when we went back to the wave pool after 20 minutes at the coco place right by there. I love Oceans of Fun but this pizza food place was horrible. I recommend going to Oceans of Fun, just avoid the pizza place by the wave pool at all costs.
Travelled with my family 3 hours to go to Worlds of Fun/Oceans of fun. While Worlds of Fun was enjoyable, our vacation ended on a sour note. Whith a high entrance fee, we were bombarded with extra fees once captive in the park; high locker fee, rental fee for inner tubes, etc. But the biggest downer related to the staff. While relaxing in the adult only area, I walked to the window at the snack bar. After standing for several minutes, the teen age wait staff finally stopped jabbering with their coworker. When I asked for food on the menu, I was told I had to go to the "other counter," which was literally at a 90 degree angle to the counter I was at and less than a foot away, but seperated by a fence, requiring me to walk several hundred feet, through the gate, out and around. When asked if she was kidding, my question was met by a blank scowl. For the price of the food, I could have had superb service at a four star restaurant.
White Water in Branson is much cleaner. We had to be in KC for several days last Summer and bought season passes to Oceans of Fun. It was always too crowded and the bathrooms/showers were filthy. Visitors also seemed dirty and I guess that's not any fault of the park itself, but they need more space, crowd control, and folks to clean up after dirty patrons.
Rude employees, loud music blaring around every corner, very expensive, no water fountains if your thirsty you have 2 options drink pool water or pay 4$ for water. In the kiddie section there are water cannons I tried to take my 4 year old inside only to be blasted in the face by obnoxious 10 year olds, when I tried to tell the lifeguard she shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do about it.
It was really fun, and I haven't even been there!! Just kidding! I would definatly recommend this awesome water park to everyone!
I'd say it was worth the time and the money, even though there were some lines, it still was a blast! I'll probley come back next summer!
I say I'm going to go to Ocean's of Fun every year and after 15 years I finally made the trip. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I am planning on taking my kids there this year instead of our usual trip to World's of Fun. Ocean's of fun was more relaxing. You didn't have to wait in line all the time, you stay cool, and you don't feel as if your going to fall over from exhaution when you leave. The only bad thing was that there weren't many rides/slides and the ones they did have, you had to wait an eternity to get on. Overall, all I can say is "What took me so long to take the plunge and enjoy this relaxing waterpark?"
