FANTASTIC BIRTHDAY PARTY!
By ,
We just returned from having our son's 5th birthday party at The Detroit Science Center and I had to sit and write a review! We had 30 people in all at the party. It was an amazing experience. We saw The Secret of the Cardboard Rocket in the Planetarium (which was just a tad bit long, but still fun), had pizza and cake in a charming private room, played in Kid's Town where the children made their own rocket to take home and went back to the party room to open presents. Gina, our party helper was an amazing woman. She helped us bring in our party items to the room before the party started, assisted my husband in bringing in our Little Ceasar's pizza and drinks (which they were kind enough to let us bring in to save money) at lunch time and helped us load the car with our presents, all along guiding us and our guests through the scheduled events and allowing for free play time, as well. This is a must-have birthday location for your budding scientist. I would highly recommend it as a stress-free and budget-friendly party location.

Not Bad
By ,
Go see the human body exhibit. It's not for the faint of heart, but its not gory. Please be carefull with your young kids. They have an IMAX theatre, but it can be a little boring. All ages will find more than a few things to enjoy, and some of what they have will bring back memories to us over 40 types. Prices weren't bad and they serve food.Like my title said, not bad. The place has changed since I first visited 20 some odd years ago, but every member of my family found something they really liked.

Fun for the family
By ,
We liked all the cool stuff you could learn hands on with parent & kids. The performance was cute & family friendly. They had lots of parking right beside the detroit science center. It is a great place to spend part of an afternoon or a whole day.

Detroit Science Center Not As Great As It Should Be
By ,
The New Detroit Science Center looks great from the outside, but on the inside, it falls just a bit short. It has a nice bright interior, but there's not much fun stuff to do. It's only a few floors tall and each floor only has one or two ideas to present. They do have a good IMAX theatre and planetarium though. Their live shows are good also. The electricity show is a must see. All in all, the best part was probably the gift shop. This farely new science center fell very short of my expectations. I do, however encourage you to go visit, just to see what you think.
