Within Museum of Science are a planetarium, an IMAX movie theater and a two-story Van de Graaf generator, capable of producing 2.5 million volts of electricity. These and the hundreds of other exhibits make this museum one of Boston's top attractions. Hatching chickens, a comparative brain exhibit and a math and statistics room are educating and entertaining.

Harry Potter Exhibit
By Gail, 02/02/10
My sister, niece, nephew & myself saw the exhibit this past Saturday. The exhibit itself was AWESOME!!! It was amazing on how many props & costumes that were there from all the movies, including the latest; "The Half-Blood Prince." Two things that we had a problem with was: 1.) The admittance of a certain amount of people at a time - every 5 min. We ran into people hanging around in front of an attraction and not moving at all. Especially those who were using the audio tour. On previous visits to the museum to see other special exhibits, people were admitted to the exhibit every half hour. This worked out perfectly since when we were admitted, we were able to move about easily from one attraction to another. The other thing that we were not happy with was the prices at the "Harry Potter" or at any of the other special exhibit gift shops. The only thing I purchased was the book with the pictures about the exhibit since we were not allowed to take pictures. And that book cost $ 17.00. We did see other things that we would of liked to have purchased, but knew that we could order them from a well-known company that sells movie related items for reasonable prices.

Love this place!

I went with a group of friends specifically for the Harry Potter Exhibit. We were very pleased by how accommodating all of the employees were! They will help you with anything! The Harry Potter Exhibit, well I loved it purely for the fact that it was Harry Potter, amazingly beautiful and well crafted!

Museum of Science Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/09
We went to see the iMax movie "Antarctica" and the Harry Potter exhibit. Both were excellent. The museum is an under-appreciated gem in Boston. Although we live 70 miles away, we make the trip every other month to see a movie, go through the exhibits, and learn new things. The museum works hard to make interesting exhibits and to make science more accessible to all. It was well organized and fun. I saw kids of all ages, from 5 year olds to teenagers enjoying themselves.

Harry Potter at Museum of Science
By klp, 11/04/09
You get to enter the world of Hogwarts and see tons of props. Volunteer to be sorted into a house--only 3 or 4 get sorted and be sure to linger if you want to see the train. The number of items is just about right for a group. We were 4 twelve-year olds and one mom on an odd school vacation day. It took the kids about 35 minutes to see all the displays. They were slightly disappointed that there were few interactive displays....they do get to throw a quaffle through a Quidditch hoop and pluck a mandrake. The lighting is superb and you do suspend disbelief. Many of the wands are on display--who knew they were soooo different. The big surprise was the dumpout into the gift shop/Diagon Alley. Just about everything on display had a counterpart or more or less offered for sale at quite the markup. It was so high a markup, even the 12-year olds were willing to walk away from some of the products: $30 for a skinny tee that said Muggle. I was really glad we were members so that the tix for this special exhibit were only 5 bucks each and we did escape the gift shop, shelling out $22.00 for a Gryffindor silk tie for dad for Christmas. So prime your kids. We loved the exhibit overall and were a bit disappointed by all the merchandizing.

Nice place to visit,an even better place to learn
By Chris O, 07/06/09
The exhibits are absolutely dynamite. The only thing I don't like about this museum is that its winter exhibit hours are too short. The cafes have great food, the live presentations are fascinating, the permanent exhibitions are fun and informative, and the special traveling exhibits are always interesting. I strongly recommend the MOS to anyone planning to visit Boston in the near future.

Keep going back
By jaded, 06/20/09
We have had a membership for about 5 years and we just keep going back. We have 3 kids (now 6-14) and there is something for all of them. We go about 4 times a year and with the free passes that come with membership and the membership discounts it more than pays for itself. Also with the convenient parking garage and lockers we can bring our own lunch and not spend a lot of money when things are tight. The Discovery center has a great area for kids 5 and under but also has hands on info downstairs and up that our older kids enjoy as well.

Life changing experience.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/15/09
I know that when I take my 16 yo son to the Museum of Science, since he was ~6yo, it inspires him to look on to the present and future. I believe that I have inspired him to a life of science and a good education. I work in the medical field and feel that I communicate with this teenager all that much more knowing that we have a common theme. When I was 14yo I went on a trip to Bookhaven National Laboratory. An experience I remember to this day. Thanks for giving us the communication we so much enjoy.

Always a great time!!
By mommytimes3, 05/27/09
Naturally, we enjoy the exhibits, and they museum always impresses with new and interesting treasures. My kids loved the frogs, but "Cliff" was the show stealer, and Stephen, the amazing host in the fossil exhibit, kept 3 little boys coming back for more with interesting stories about fossils and dinosaur teeth. Best way to spend an afternoon with your family and really see your kids giggle and smile and have a fantastic time. Worth every cent.

Stimulating for toddlers and school age
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/21/09
With two adults there so we can split for age and interest this museum is a phenomenal and stimulating experience. The kids didn't even realize how much they were learning they were having so much fun. My 4-year-old's favorite is the waterfall play table in the preschool area where we played while my 8-year- old did an awesome Scavenger Hunt competition with his Dad. (pre-register for that and Night at the museum sleep overs.)
