Tucked away on winding roads behind the Museum of Fine Arts , is a beautiful park of manicured lawns, bridges, ponds and flower beds. In the summer, the gated Rose Garden explodes into aromatic pink, white, yellow and red. More varied horticulture can be found in the Victory Gardens, a community garden with hundreds of well-tended plots. Cross a few bridges and you will discover the running track, basketball courts and softball fields. No green space in Boston offers a more peaceful oasis than the Back Bay Fens. Open from 7.30 am daily.

sanctuary in the city
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/06
These mostly paved trails contain beautiful trees and gardens in the middle of the city. It's quiet, and great for biking. GORGEOUS in the fall, lovely in the spring. Victory gardens are excellent too.

Owls, racoons & a host of birds & animals may be found living in the Fens of the Fenway, along with a Rose Garden, sport facilities & WW II Victory Gardens, a truely amazing part of Boston
