North End

Description

This old neighborhood is the site of the Old North Church and the Paul Revere House. Located along the Boston waterfront, it was the first stop for several waves of immigrants. Italians made it their home in the 1870s. Italian restaurants and pastry shops are crammed into narrow streets, where the smell of garlic and sounds of happy diners fill the air. Hanover and Salem are the two main streets and are often packed with tourists and locals who flock there to chill and relax and most importantly shop.

Best Little Italy in America
By ,
I am from NY so it takes a lot to impress me. I LOVE bostons little Italy (North End). I was told by relatives it is like NY's Little Italy was 50 years ago. Sadly now NY's Little Italy is a mere half block, but here in the north end it goes for blocks and blocks and blocks and is all authentic, with almost 100 restaurants, pastry shops, cafe's, salumerias, trattorias etc. The architecture looks like a movie set and its clean and safe and away from the city life. And people are a lot nicer than elsewhere in Boston, where I find people just downright nasty. GO there, you wont be sorry

My favorite place in the world.
By ,
Boston's North End is a great walking experience, especially on summer week-end evenings when the Italian feasts are held during July and August. The two most popular feasts are the Fisherman's Feast, on North Street,in August, and St.Anthony's Feast, the last Sunday in August, on Endicott Street. There are many food stands, like Cannoli, Sausage and peppers subs, fresh quahogs, pizza, and fried dough, or zeppoli, etc. If they don't satisfy you, there are many restaurants (like every other doorway on Hanover Street!) that will do the trick, especially Cantina Italiana, Pagluica's, Lucia's. Or, you can try the many Cafes serving Espresso, Cappacino, Gelato, and pastries. You will not be disappointed! Guaranteed!

Like being in Italy-
By ,
It reminded me of living in Naples- small neighborhoods, crowded alleyways, cars trying to squeeze into places- A Wonderful walking experience, no telling what you might find when You turn down the next street.

Always a good time!
By ,
I live just outside of the city, and anytime my friends and I want to have a great time and delicious Italian food, we drive to the North End. There are so many great resteraunts, bakeries and little shops; it would be hard not to have a great time!

Wonderful
By ,
The North End of Boston was clean, and non comercial. So if you're looking for a more low key place to go in Boston, this is the place to go. No homeless people and small businesses instead of big corporations which is nice. If I lived in Boston, I would want to live in this part of town.

Great Place to See
By ,
The North End is an awesome place. Unlike Back Bay and downtown Boston it has a very european feel to it. There are TONS of restaurants so you will not have to worry about where to eat. Make sure to check out Mike's pastries (famous with Bostonians for baked goods) There are some shops but I would not recommend it for shopping. Most of the stores are for knick knacks or souvenirs. It is a great place to hang out for the afternoon, you can explore the neighborhoods, eat at the cafes, or just enjoy one of the oldest neighborhoods in Boston!

My favorite place in Boston
By ,
The North End is an excellent place to go. It has a very European feel to it with many of the residents being Itallian immigrants. The area it great to go to at night. It has a wide variety of restaurants that won't burn a hole in your wallet. The famous Mike's Pastries and Modern Pastry are wonderful places to get true itallian pastries. It is also a nice area to walk around at night.
