Awesome experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/11
I was in town for business and had a few hours to kill before my flight. I was staying on Tremont street and happened to stumble upon the Freedom Trail. Having never been to Boston before, it was an awesome, "free" way to get to see some of the historic highlights of the city. In addiiton to the Revolution theme, you get to take in so much more about Boston and American history, including a very nice Holocaust memorial, more cool bars/taverns/restaurants than one could imagine, etc. I made it down the trail and back to my hotel in about 3 hours total due to time constraints. While doable in this amount of time, I could've spent an entire day taking it all in. It's free to do, you can go at your own pace, you can stop an eat/drink as you like, if you get off track or go exploring, there are tons of maps and markers to find your way back to the "trail." Boston is my new favorite city, and the Freedom Trail is the best way to take in some of the best sites it has to offer. Wear some comfortable shoes, bring your camera, and spend a day taking in some of America's best historic landmarks. . . for free.

a good historical place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/10
I enjoy going to boston with my school it was about 9 yrs ago...I loved the tour...afterwards we did a little bit of shopping and came back to school. My mom even came with us..We have loads of pictures just from boston all in one day. I would love to go again. I would recommend this place to go to this place because it has a lot of history within this tour..

My favorite spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/10
One of my most favorite places to visit. I grew up in NH and now live in California and desire going back to Boston as often as possible. Not only do I love it but my wife and children love it as well. Made it back for a Red Sox game with friends from Cal and they loved it as well. A must visit!

Worth it if you ever get the chance
By Rebecca, 6/20/10
Loved getting to see the sites, the trail was easy to follow. Most places were free to see. Of the few we had to pay for my husband who is military was able to get in for free so that was a nice surprise. We all got in free to the meeting house as a special year long museum promo for military families in 2010. Really enjoyed the crypt and bell tower tour in the Kings Chapel. I believe it was about $5 each and well worth it. Paul Reveres home was neat but a bit overpriced. It is quite a walk from the last cemetray to the USS Constitution and after that we were exhausted so didn't make it to Bunker Hill Memorial. Kind of wished we had gotten a trolley ticket to save our feet!

Freedom Trail Run - Saturdays @ 8:30a
By E, 6/9/10
There is a group RUN that tours the full Freedom Trail on Saturday mornings. At the end of the trail everyone takes the MBTA boat back to Boston (boat fee & t-shirt included). Freedom Trail Run!

Fun, especially for history nuts like me!
By Heather, 10/24/09
I did the Freedom Trail last March (2009). I loved it. You can take a tour and be lead around by a revolutionary tour guide who takes you through Boston Commons and up to the state house. My friend and I went without a tour guide and were able to go at our own pace. We used my tour guide book and walked all the way to Bunker Hill. It takes at least 2-3 hours to do the whole trail if you really want to look at the history. Before you start, check the open times at the spot you want to go into because we went to late in the day or the wrong days, and some of them were closed. Also make sure you have a map because sometimes its hard to see the red line you follow. I loved it and would do it again!

Great history lesson!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/09
We booked a walking tour on line. (Received a discount) You can also walk-up and purchase tickets. Our guide was dressed in his traditional colonial clothes. Very informative. A lot of humor mixed into the history lesson. Wear comfortable shoes. We also did the Trolley Tour. We saw a lot of the sames things, just without the details that we got with the walking tour. The Walking Tours are a better value.
