amazing
By anakatarinad, 06/22/08
The BAAK Gallery jewelry is a synergy of design, from classic and sublime to artistic and trendy, quality and price. Most of the pieces are one-of-a-kind pieces designed by American and International designers. The gallery also carries conflict-free Canadian diamonds. Loved it!

Unique, Beautiul Jewelery
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/18/08
I went to buy an engagement ring, being a typical guy I waited until the last minute to do so. I had an idea of what i wanted but was undecisive because I didn't want to make a mistake. Katarina was so patient with me. She showed and drew up many options trying to make it as easy as possible. Six days before I needed the ring, I discovered that my girlfriend has always wanted a princess cut diamond and of course I got her a round cut diamond. I called Katarina on a Sunday evening and told her my problem. She told me to come and she would take care of it. I went to see her a few days later (making it 4 days until I needed the ring) and she thought of a way to have the ring redesigned to have the diamond my girlfriend always wanted to fit this custom ring that was originally fit for another cut. I picked up the ring on Saturday, It was beautiful. Later that day My girlfriend and myself drove up to Killington for a snowboarding weekend. On Sunday I proposed on the mountain. Katarina saved my weekend. She did everything possible to get me the ring I wanted at the price and day I needed it. We love her work so much and trust her that we are going to have our wedding bands designed by her also. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for unique, beautiful jewelery at a great price--and oh yea the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you Katarina you made the experience as easy and stress free as possible--Mike

Great custom engagement ring and huge selection of Canadian non-conflict diamonds
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/13/06
I had a couple of difficult demands when my fiance and I started shopping for engagement rings last year. One was that I wanted a non-conflict diamond and the other was that I wanted a cushion cut diamond in an antique-like setting. We went to *all* the area stores (Alpha Omega, Shreve Crump & Lowe, the diamond district downtown, etc.), but just couldn't find what we were looking for and the quality that we wanted. Finally, by chance, we happened to stumble into Baak Gallery where Katarina greeted us and told me that she had a large selection of Canadian cushion cut diamonds (as well as many other cuts) and could custom make a ring to our design. From there on out, we had the most marvelous time - we immediately found a beautiful cushion cut stone and then Katarina helped us with the drawing and designing of the ring which only took one other visit by me to finalize. We were anxious about what the end result would be, but the ring came out *exactly* how I envisioned it and the workmanship was amazing and detailed and exquisitely fine (it's platinum with lots of pave diamonds all around so the workmanship was key). I don't know the exact price, but my fiance tells me that of all the places we visited, Katarina gave him the best deal for the product that we ended up with. I highly highly recommend Baak Gallery for not only the large selection of Canadian non-conflict diamonds, but also the customer service (Katarina is the best), quality, and pricing.

Go for custom design as well as everyday jewelry
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/06
Katarina designed my engagement ring. She was receptive to my ideas, took a lot of time over months going over a number of versions, and I was absolutely sure I could trust her to make sure the final product was something I would love. You can immediately tell by her other rings that her designs are thoughtful, balanced, interesting, and beautiful. I personally wanted something unique but still classically beautiful and I got exactly that. I was so tired of going into all the usual suspects for engagement rings and seeing the same thing over and over. Even if you don't want to have her design something especially for you, there is a large selection of pre-made rings in the store that are beautiful, varied in design, and absolutely not boring. As with all purchases where price can vary, I would recommend doing some legwork first so you know what to expect price-wise. I found their prices reasonable (mid-range for custom design). I would also recommend the Baak gallery for a range of other jewelry purchases: $20 earrings for a friend to a $200 necklace for you sister... The style is varied and I usually find something I like. If you don't really know what to get someone, the staff is good at offering suggestions. I sent a coworker there to buy his girlfriend a ring for her birthday, which she ended up loving! Finally, they have rotating artists selling paintings, photographs, etc. The artwork is a bit high-end for me, but certainly worth checking out if you have a budget for original art. If nothing else, it does bring the whole atmosphere up a notch, and browsing is always a pleasant experience.

With Appreciation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/05/06
Thanks to Katarina and the Baak Gallery for a fantastic engagement ring. The service was personal and helpful. Katarina provided an excellent consultation, was cooperative in helping me choose the ring design and it was delivered very quickly. The Baak Gallery has a wonderful commitment to conflict-free Canadian diamonds, which is why I went there first and last. The price was reasonable given it was custom made and not simply chosen from a jewelry store display case. Again, a great overall experience. My fiancee really loves her engagement ring and that is the truest review.

Slow and pricey
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/15/06
We got my engagement ring there and my fiance told me it took them over three weeks to and his repeated calling to size the ring. We thought we had got a good price. So, not discouraged by this experience I went back to reset a diamond necklace from yellow to white gold and to look for a wedding band. For the resetting, they said it would take a week, it took over three and they charged me more than the agreed upon price. I also found my wedding band for almost half the price it was at Baak with higher quality diamonds somewhere else.

Best in Boston!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/30/05
The Baak Gallery had the largest selection of unique jewelry my fiancee and I had seen in Boston. We went there for the Canadian diamonds and were totally impressed by the atmosphere and service.

Beautiful jewelry & knowledgeable staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/04
The Baak Gallery is the perfect place to find unique and beautiful jewelry! We ventured into Baak because it was highly recommended by some friends who recently got married. We were looking for an engagement ring and wanted a no-conflict diamond from Canada. Baak was the one of the few jewelers that carried Canadia Diamonds.

We immediately fell in love with Katarina's ring settings & designs. We didn't need to go anywhere else. As a family-owned shop, the staff & atmosphere is pleasant and unpretenious. They were very patient when answering all of our questions. Katarina's knowledge, style, and expertise also led us to purchase our wedding bands there. This shop is a must-see when you are in Harvard Square!
