The centerpiece of the Theater District, this stage boasts an impressive history. In recent years, performances of Riverdance and Miss Saigon have attracted record crowds and further cemented its reputation as a worldclass theater. It is also the home of the Boston Ballet and New England's largest movie screen. Established in 1925 as an ornate movie house named the Metropolitan Theater, this venue was designed by noted architect Clarence H. Blackall, founder of the Boston Architects' Collaborative. The Citi Performing Arts Center comprises of three theaters - the Wang, the Shubert and the Colonial.
It is impossible to get tickets to events at this place without paying exhorbidant fees or going directly to the box office. I don't mind paying a reasonable fee for the convenience of on-line or phone purchase. But I wanted to order 4 tickets and there was a $12.50 service charge for each. That is for ordering by phone or on-line (for which there CAN'T be much cost to them, they want to charge you $50! No wonder shows at this place aren't selling out. This sort of rip-off artistry leaves a bad taste in your mouth
