Worst bar in Boston 1985
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/07/07
I was in Boston in 1985 serving in the Coast Guard. My shipmates and I started hanging out at the BHP because it was a 15 minute walk, the beer was reasonable (this was when wine-coolers reigned-don't remember wine coolers?)& the dress code was relaxed but not too relaxed. It was a dark place with no blaring music-plus it had a TV (our cutter didn't have TV reception at all). I never saw anybody get out of line and the bartenders were always good. The only problem I ever had was walking the stickyness from the floor off the soles of my shoes.
When we found out it was voted worst bar in Boston-1985 we all knew we had found a real home. The guy in the review said it was like walking into the bar from Star Wars. Ever since that day I never took any stock in those types of reviews. All the other places we went to are now gone.
Beacon Hill Pub. Those were the good ol' days.
