Shalimar of India
Central Square offers a host of Indian restaurants, but not all of them are good. Meals at this quality restaurant are reliably delicious. Try the large combination plates or the tandoori dinners of shrimp, mixed grill, or lamb kabobs. The kitchen usually goes light on the spice. Hot vindaloo lovers should make it clear that they want their meal fired-up. The restaurant, which is also known for its luncheon menu, has a full service bar.
You have to See it to Believe it! The Best by far!!!

This place is fantastic!!! Shalimar is by far the best Indian Restaurant in Cambridge, if not all of Massachusetts. I went in the other day and found out that they have been around for 21 years, can you say "INCREDIBLE". My friends and I currently attend MIT and we all agreed that Shalimar should get their own stand here(lol hopefully it happens), since it has clearly marked its stamp as "#1 Indian Restaurant" in Cambridge.
Shalimar of India has always been my favorite restaurant, and will remain my favorite for a very long time! It is indeed the best Indian Restaurant in Massachusetts. The Management cares for its customers and will always welcome you to dine with them. I have been to many indian resturants in several different towns (Arlington, Lexington, Davis Square, Boston), and i have found that Shalimar has great food, and service! They also have a T.V, so therefore you can relax, eat, and enjoy watching the "game". Honestly, i recommend this restaurant to everyone. Shalimar also attracts people to their delicious food! EXCELLENT BUFFET AND DINNER. I wouldn't sit down and write this review if i was not telling the truth about the BESTEST INDIAN RESTAURANT IN MASSACHUSETTS.
One thing some Indian restaurants get wrong in an attempt to make Indian food taste mild is going overboard with the cream sauces and the oil. Not Shalimar! The food was tasty and not swimming in oil or heavy sauces, allowing the taste of the vegetables and spices to come out. The service was friendly and hot Naans were brought out to us even though it was almost the end of the lunch buffet. This place is great :)
I work in Cambridge and am of Indian decent. I have tried the buffet in all the Indian restaurants in Cambridge/Boston, and this is the best value ($6.95). All the food there is excellent and very authentic.
