Been Here Before? Oh, Yes!

I was fortunate to have lived in the area of the museum all of my growing up years. In 1957, Baltimore was a gentler city. Children were given more freedom and that allowed me to go to the Baltimore Museum of Art almost every day. I knew nothing about the art displayed there, nor the artists who created these pieces. What I can tell you is that I can remember the different exhibits as if it were yesterday. It was culture at its finest. Often I would visit because of the coolness after playing in the heat of Wyman Park.
My favorite exhibit was the mummy encased in a glass top casket. She was kept on the lower level. There was a niche containing a room laid out in a particular period. How different this was from how we lived. Then, there was the room which held paintings of horses. I believe they were all Preakness winners. They were gorgeous animals.
I just gave my opinion as an 11-year-old. Imagine the things you will see as an adult.
