This Roland Park mainstay called Alonso's has been a local favorite since 1931. For an appetizer, consider Little Neck Clams, Mussles Marinerre or Bruschetta. Then satisfy your craving for a cheeseburger or a thin-crusted pizza topped with roasted vegetables, chicken or shrimp. Sandwiches and calzones are also on the menu, along with a list of wonderful entrees - Grilled Lamb Sirloin, Roast Breast of Free Range Chicken, and a Crab Cake platter. In addition to great food, this restaurant also has great beer menu—50 bottled beers and six on draft.

If you hate fast/quality servers....
By Ted, 10/20/08
...this is the place for you. Numerous visits to Alonso's and Loco Hombre have reinforced my belief that serving the customer in a timely manner is not a priority for either establishment. A recent visit added a new wrinkle: terrible food. In the past, I have overlooked the service issues because of good food. Last night, the fries were overcooked, the burgers were dry, and just like the fries, overcooked. What should have been a fast meal on a slow Sunday took over an hour and resulted in me sending my food back. It is unfortunate as both restaurants are owned by the same group that owns Miss Shirley's next door (who has impeccable service). If only they took their cues from their neighbors. When charging $14 for a burger, I expect more of a restaurant.
