The folks at this lovely downtown eatery believe that a quick lunch can still be a satisfying culinary experience. Witness the extensive and creative array of fresh salads, soups, pizzas, noodle dishes and sandwiches. The Grilled Salmon Club delivers more enjoyment than you'd even think to ask from a sandwich. Similarly, the environment is more than you'd expect from a casual lunch-spot. The soothing lemon-yellow walls, high ceilings and comfortable couches are just the ticket for unwinding after a hectic morning. Sascha's also serves dinner.
The atmosphere was cozy. The faces were friendly. The food was delicious. The bill was reasonable.
Menu - not too "foodie" - but interesting enough to please all four in our party... from the meat & potatoes eater to the more adventurous diner.
Off-street parking across the street was a plus!
Visit during the week when the specials are more gourmet & there's more love put into the dishes!
In my previous visit to Sascha's there was a combo and a singer. Last night there was a reindeer butler adorning with Christmas lights. The place has charm.
But the owner seems to be trying to squeeze an unearned dollar or two out of every selection. My wineglass was small, not sufficiently filled, and the base was spotted with spills. I had to ask for a paper napkin to clean it up. My pork entree, a special, was described as "medallions", but "quarters" would have been more accurate. A few slivered greenbeans were sprinkled on risotto; I think four ounces would have justified classifying them as the vegetable component of the main course. I shared my risotto with my one of my hosts (since I had talked her out of ordering risotto for a main course because $16 dollars for a dish of rice promised disappointment) when she didn't care for her dense parmesan grit cakes, and the waiter offered no substitute.
The Beggar's Purse dessert was excellent, though, with banana, mango and ice cream.
Overall, Sascha's needs to either lower the prices or increase the portions in the entrees to offer the customer fair value.
i had canned corn with my "wild salmon" which was basically sitting in teriyaki sauce. our appetizer cocunut shrimp was dry and overcooked even after we sent it back. but dessert was decent. definitely not value for money. decent date place atmosphere but the food makes it not worth the trip.
