Louisiana Children's Museum

Description

Louisiana Children's Museum offers a toddler area and children's drama, dance, and puppet shows. There are also art and science exhibits, as well as hands-on math and physics exhibits, and a reproduction of a television studio. Many of the exhibits are geared toward learning through doing. This style of learning makes it fun for both parents and kids alike. This is a great rainy day field trip and a good place for anyone trying to get away from the "adult" aspects of the city.

Inexpensive day of fun
By Nick, 6/16/10
As the mother of 4 children ages 6-19 I am always looking for an inexpensive good time. We took our 6 yr old daughter and she had a blast. For $22.50 three of us stayed busy for 4 hours and probably could have spent more time. Take a bottled water as they only have a vending machine cafeteria. Make sure you go to the bubble are so you child can build a good old fashioned soap bubble around their whole body. Highly recommend.

Nice, but no toddler story?
By Denise, 5/5/10
Since my daughter's only 2, I specifically went on a Tuesday at 10:30am where there was supposed to be a Toddler Time with a story reading and an art project which sounded fun. But there wasn't. I was disappointed but my daughter had a blast which is the important thing. For 3 hours she was upstairs playing. Loved the Winn Dixie market, the kid's cafe, and of course the First Adventurers play area for tots. I would come back but if only they were absolutely 100% positive Toddler Time would happen.

An experience!
By Tanna, 12/28/08
The thing I love about visiting this museum is that they always make you feel like you're at home. I make it a point to bring my kids back home every year and every time, it's a different experience.

By Cynthia Leigh, 2/15/08
The it'll be worth it, but the last time I went the museum needed a serious update as many of it's interactive exhibits where broken.

Great for Our Girls (Ages 6-7)
By Mary OO, 9/25/05
The girls went to this museum three times in the course of a week of mostly Jazzfest outings. They loved the grocery store and restaurant upstairs. They also loved the riverboat. There are many activities for a full range of ages. We saw children as young as 2 having a great time, and ours, which are 6-7 loved it. I highly recommend it.

Excellent Learning experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/23/05
I loved the News studio and the grocery store, because it simulates the real world that the little ones observe and gives them hands-on exposure.

Fun for kids
By Laurel, 6/29/05
My sister-in-law and I took our kids here while on vacation in New Orleans. Our kids ages ranged from 1 to 11. All the kids found something of interest/fun here. It was a nice surprise in a city that can be geared for adults.
