Vibrant Arts in New Orleans
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/28/05
Before Hurricane Katrina disrupted the arts and culture of the gulf region, I found New Orleans to be one of the most vibrant and fresh art scenes in the states, especially in the realm of contemporary works.
I enjoyed a visit to the arts district and a venture down Julia Street. Le Mieux Galleries was one of my favorite stops. Their summer exhibit "8 x 10" was on view & many of the gallery artists contributed 8 inch by 10 inch works. The show was fascinating and clever.
Now that this cataclysmic event has happened I wonder when the galleries will come back to life. I read that some of the galleries will be open for the November 19th 2005 openings and encourage any one who wants support the arts to view work on line and purchase works to help keep the artists and galleries going for many years to come.
