Herb Import Company (The), New Orleans

The Herb Import company on Canal st. and even the one in Slidell have a somewhat nice collection but rip you off with the prices. I recommend buying from the Herb if you need basics like tobacco, screens, blunt wraps or anything else that prices cannot fluctuate too much. As for pipes, water pipes or anything else that can get pricey, I recommend the mushroom on Broadway on top of the Boot. Not only is it cheaper off the bat but if for some reason you find a cheaper price somewhere else, they will not only match it, but lower it as well. There always seems to be 25% off water pipes when I go and they are all good quality.

My husband bought a detox product on June 15th (I still have the receipt). Sadly and tragically he committed suicide June 20th. When I asked to get a refund, I was told absolutely not no matter what the circumstance there would be no refund. I was so shocked that he said to me!!! My husband of 20 years is dead and you can't return a product that you will in no way take a loss on. While I am struggling to support 2 teenagers without a husband. SHAME ON YOU HERB IMPORT AND ESPECIALLY A VERY RUDE ASSOCIATE NAMED DE'MAI (I THINK I SPELLED IT RIGHT). HE WAS AWFUL AND UNBELIEVEABLY CONDOSCENDING. Staff was brash and irritatingly risque. The guy seemede to think he was being funny but came off as just plain ignorant and didn't seem like he should live in this "cool" town. Seemed like an "X-rated country bumpkin. Yikes, hire more desirable help. It was hard to evaluate the "goods" because the "help" was so annoying!

I was very impressed with the Herb Import Co. The staff was very attentive and very friendly. The Store itself was small but I was amazed with all the merchandise that they actually had. From shirts, posters, incense, pipes, hookas, and herbal supplements, this place has got something for everyone. The prices are about normal for shops of this nature that I have been to before. Parking can be a bit of an issue, if you only want to go to this store, but if you are up for walking around New Orleans and want to drop in and check it out, I highly reccomend it.

Recently visited their Canal Street store and had a notion of dread entering because of the reviews here. The rebuilt location looks great and is very open and inviting, unlike the previous incarnation which was dark and dank. There are more products than I remember and a few new faces, nice looking young ladies. They were very helpful and engaging which was surprising and welcome. The tall ear ring guy is still around, I think he's the manager or the like. Comic relief at his worst I suppose. Whatever, diversity is why I stay in NOLA. While checking out a the register I overheard their herbalist recommending a tea to help with sleep insomnia, which I suffer from. I'm very interested in returning again. I must admit they won me over with personality and really good customer service. They also have a coffee shop and it seems very nice so next time I'll stop in there, even though I didn't see anyone working it. You might want to call if you're going for coffee.

We visit often, and as cool as the shop is, with all it offers, we are still hesitant to buy. Just because you are having a bad day or it sucks that you have to work, you shouldn't take it out on the customers. The manager is the worst...and he sets the tone for everyone else. There were a couple of really good employees but I guess he ran them off, Too bad, cause now I really won't go back. Can find all i need at friendlier shops.
