Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral
Description
The first Greek Orthodox congregation in Chicago built this cathedral. It is modeled after the Cathedral Church in Athens, Greece. The exterior is done in a Renaissance-Byzantine style with a dome rising from the center of the rectangular building. In 1938, a number of stained glass windows were added that depict various saints from the Eastern Church. The light from the windows of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral warmly illuminates the rich interior of the main auditorium.
