American Girl Place
The eight-level Water Tower Place reigns as the largest mall on Michigan Avenue. Anchored by a Lord & Taylor and a branch of Marshall Field's and Company, Water Tower includes more than 100 stores, movie theaters, and many dining options. Take the glass elevators to the upper floors to visit the frenetic Foodlife, an upscale food court with multiple stations that offer made-to-order items from a wide range of cuisines. For a hearty sit-down meal, try Mity Nice Grill, with its 1940's decor and crowded walls of children's photos.
My friend and I are social ballroom dancers in Pensacola, Fl. We come to Chicago each Christmas to celebrate Christmas Eve with my adult kids. My friend shops for formal, ballroom gowns at Water Tower Place and almost every year find great buys! While she does that I do the last minute Christmas shopping for the kids (and her). Always successful! Yes, it costs more than Pensacola but that is what Christmas is about!
I loved the stores and the location because it was accessible to other venues.
I had a lot of fun while I visited Chicago and this was one my primary destinations.
I also like the coupon booklets offered to out of towners. I am planning a return trip with a group. I can't wait!
I love shopping in the Water Tower. This place has so many different stores in one building versus most places you have to walk from store to store. The Mezzanine has an excellent diverse choice of food. Also it in the heart of downtown is wonderful to spend your whole day.
Walk in. Deja vu? Of course you feel you've seen it already. Whether via segments on "Oprah", or featured in countless movies, Water Tower Place is a recognizable star! Plus, its circular layout and crystal spaceship elevators have been Xeroxed in malls all over America. Don't shop here. WINDOW shop here. Then stroll out, over to the stone masterpiece that is the REAL Chicago Water Tower.
This place was great! Outside there were kids displaying their talents, while inside, the water drippings and fountains were about as cool as you can get. We went to the "Mity Nice Grill" which was fantastic!
Way to go! You saved us from our miserable experience at the Museum of Science and Industry.
This is exactly the type of shopping i was expecting on the Magnificent Mile...floor after floor of stores that wrap around a beautiful atrium. I bought very little here considering the prices in many of the stores, but i didn't go to downtown Chicago expecting afforable shopping so i certainly wasn't surprised. Overall it was nice experience in a beautiful mall unlike any i have seen before.
stores are VERY expensive. I mean I found a T-Shirt that was 70 bucks!
If you like to look and not buy, or if you have loads of money to spend then by all means go here, but for me, I found that what I was interested in wasn't worth the price and I almost wonder if the prices were marked up simply because it is a popular destination and is located on the Magnificent Mile. I didn't stay here too long because they are many other shops to see and I would rather spend my time there. Most of the shops at this mall were shops I have here at home, and the others were just too expensive.
