National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago

I visited summer 2007 and was lucky enough to attend a symposium with key note speaker Elena Poniatowska. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The museum had some of the most impressive collections of Mexican Art, especially in their current exhibitions Nahui olin: A Woman Beyond her Time and Moderm Women Painters of Mexico. Even in Mexico it's hard to see these pieces of art and I came to see them in CHICAGO. Dozens of great restaurants were also located at walking distance such as Nuevo Leon. I loved it! Admission is also FREE!

Mr. Tortelero has done a great job with this museum. I first visited this as a teenager in the late 80's and was underwhelmed. Let me tell you it has come a long way. Wish there were more places where Mexicans live in the US.
