Clarence Buckingham Fountain, Chicago

We took a trip to Chicago in August of 2000 and spent time sight seeing. In the midst of the chaos of that trip, we got to see the fountain. We almost missed it this time. They were sitting up for Taste of Chicago (Don't waste your time or money on that --- too expensive, pay to park, pay to get in and then pay excessive prices for the food) and we did not realize that it would be gated off during the Taste. We parked and walked into the fountain around 8:30 and spent an hour shooting video and taking pictures. While the fountain is beautiful by day, the night time totally changes everything when it comes alive in color. What more could you ask for with a breeze from the lake in your face and sitting near the fountain with your husband and grandson.

Impressive from afar, ornate and fun up close. It's free and conveniently-located.

I loved the Buckingham Fountain, it was beautiful especially on a hot June day. This is just one of the many free attactions near eachother. This is great for family or friends.

Buckingham Fountain brings back so many memories of when I lived in Chicago. I have not been back to Chicago in 20 years but this year I am going to visit for sure! One of my stops is definitely going to be this beautiful fountain. I remember my parents taking us every summer in the evenings and we would love to see it illuminated. I want my son to see it and experience the subtle joys of life!!!

I loved the fountains at night, because they light up and look so gorgeous!! It was especially nice when my now husband took me there when we were dating and asked me to marry him! Very romantic place, men!

YOu need to get here soon going to be down for 18 months for repairs. The place is much bigger then expected. A nice place to relax and watch the people.

In the Chill of the night and the City brightly lit in background all is Dazzling and Crazy at Buckingham Fountain!!! Cars wizzing by....sounds of the street thumpin around and kids playing with the sprinkles of water from the overspray of the shooting bursts of coolness!!!

Most beautiful in the country. Go there with time to sit and do nothing but enjoy. Coffe stands open in the morning. A MUST SEE at night!

I love everything about it. Me in my family thinking about coming there to visit for a vacation for this year the last time I was there was 1994 when i moved from there now it is time for another trip.

Grab some sandwiches at the grill stand closeby and relax in one of the most beautiful places in Chicago. The sound and vibe of the fountain, right in front of Lake Michigan and just southeast of Millenium Park, will delight you. It's located close enough to most Chicago destinations that you shouldn't miss it.
