Lincoln Monument
Description
It is only fitting that the state known as the Land of Lincoln is home to the world's oldest statue of Abraham Lincoln. Appropriately enough, the statute of the Great Emancipator is in the park that bears the President's name. Cast by sculptor Augustus Saint Gaudens between the years 1884-1887, it depicts Lincoln as a young man, possibly when he was still practicing law, when he was yet to make history. For another, more presidential statue of Lincoln, check out Gaudens' statue in Grant Park.
