From popular Rembrandt masterpieces to recent works by lesser-known artists, the Art Institute of Chicago houses one of the finest art collections in the world. Spanning centuries of human creativity, exhibits include a distinguished collection of prints and drawings, an internationally acclaimed collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, sculptures, photographs, Asian, African and American arts, architectural drawings, textiles and more. Many pieces are on loan from the famed Terra Foundation for American Art. Educational programs and guided museum tours are available. Art books, reproductions, postcards and other items are available in the museum shop. Free public lectures are given during weekends.

I love the Art Institute of Chicago, the collection is incredible and there are some great spaces and pieces in the museum, it is simply one of the most magnificent places in Chicago. The problem is that currently there is a major construction project going on that will not be completed until 2009. This has significantly limited sections of the collection on display. When you consider that in any museum only shows 2-4% of their total collection it's worth considering when they are limiting further the amount of the collection you can see. If you're in CHicago it's worth taking a walk through, but if this is your once in a life time trip, wait a couple years.

I liked this place cause it wasn't boring like any other museum you go to. I mean it was just finominal on how perfect everything went with my class. All the kids actually were impressed. I felt very proud that it was my idea to take my 7th grade class there!

If you like the Impressionists, this is the place to visit. The collection was outstanding! The ambience of the museum is also extremely pleasant though it is pretty easy to get lost!

this is a cool place. i cant wait to go back because it is so cool. this is such a cool place because it just is so cool. the cool place that i am talking about is what you proabably already know about is the art institute of chicago. did i mention that it is so cool and that it is the coolest place in the world? well it is.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

I love the art institute museum. In the month of February it was free, we had to pay $1 to check our things. I loved it. I would love to go back. It is worth your time and money. I did not have my daughter with me, but I liked that they have an entire area in the basement area near bathrooms for children, a store, craft center and a touch museum. Fantastic!

It was so easy to get to . Thursday night free was great!!!!!!!! Enjoyed everything about it! Tha American artist section was amasing to be standing next to American Gothic.

Best American Art Museum

Fine Impressionist collection. Probably the best art museum in the United States. Seems to combine the best of the Met and the Boston Fine Arts Museum.
