This place is always full of University of Illinois students looking to buy textbooks at a better rate or to sell back used ones. However, if you are in search of historical reference materials, this place will most likely have what you are looking for. If you are in the area for lunch try any of the Italian restaurants in the surrounding area, it is a nice stop for browsing.
this little store rests on the corner of taylor and aberdeen and is a conveniently short walk from campus. Their prices are cheaper than the UIC bookstores by a landslide! the fact that it is a little store makes it more cozy and personable. their staff is friendly and very helpful. i am definitely going back there next semester!!!
It's great to know that we have a choice where to buy our books. I had to get my textbook here because it wasn't at UIC and I ended up finding all my other classes here, which was great because they were cheaper than the ones at UIC.
What did I dislike? Wow. Where do I begin? Maybe it was the overpriced books. Maybe it was the in your face, arrogant, snobbish people working (or not working) there. Maybe it was the smug look on the face of the clerk that said "Yes we've got a monopoly on this business, and we're enjoying it." I bought books here for 2 years before I realized I could get the ISBN numbers (something the store will do everything in their power to ensure you can't do) and just buy the books I needed online at a fraction of the cost. And then there was the satisfaction of bringing my books in and sellling them back to the bookstore (knocked down at least 15% off the price they'd resell them for the next year) at a respectable profit, which I happily pocketed in cash. A terrible, exploitive, unfriendly, and basically thoroughly detestable place to shop.
Well, the textbooks are not that much cheaper than the actual UIC bookstore. If you are looking for cheap used books, you are not going to find them here. You would be much better off buying them at amazon.com or something similar to that. But sometimes professors will order books through this store because the breand new texts are actually a little cheaper than the official bookstore---but only a little, I'm not promising half off or anything!
i'm a student at UIC and when i went into the store to buy books for my classes, some of them where covered with black plastic bags. When I asked why i couldn't buy them like the rest of my books, they said they wern't for sale yet. Least to say my parents couldnt buy my books for me
