Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University
Founded in 1867, the Chicago Musical College has been training aspiring musicians in the city for almost as long as the city has been incorporated. The college was obtained in 1956 by Roosevelt University and now holds frequent performances at Roosevelt's historic 250-seat Ganz Hall. The college boasts 350 students from all over the globe. It is a wonderful opportunity to hear dazzling students and established young artists give free performances.
One of the best kept secrets of Chicago's Roosevelt U is its fantastic view of the city.The univeristy has a superior location in Chicago's loop near many landmark sites.
It is located in Chicago's Auditorium theatre in a 10 floor building.The view from the 10th floor library is wonderful,with the Buckingham fountain,sculpted Indian braves on Congress and Michigan aves,Art Institute,Millennium park and the green space Grant park oasis.Being here inspires the senses and gets the creative juices flowing.Besides the magnificent view from the top,the univeristy also has a wonderul school of performing arts and routinely has recitals that are open to the public on the 9th fl. The univeristy is technology savvy as well and boasts the latest in computor and communication labs.
What is really unique about the school is the 1930's plaques at each elevator bank that are dedicated to patrons FDR and his wife,Eleanor Roosevelt.These witicisms and wisdom of the couple inspire us all,here at a veritible vertical university.
