House of Blues
House of Blues, famous at its many locations around the globe, loses none of the glamour and glitz of its "faux dive" specialty here! Outsider art hangs all over the place from floor to ceiling, and you get the feel of being in a perverted opera house. With seating more than 1,500 people, HOB lets visitors catch a concert while snacking on such menu selections as "The Elwood" (blackened chicken sandwich with chili garlic mayonnaise, green chilies and sour cream served with seasoned french fries). Average menu prices are about $9, topping out at $21 for a New York strip steak. There is live music seven nights a week, with cover charges ranging from $10 to $25. Music styles are not limited to the blues— jazz, rock and such favorite bands as Duran Duran and Styx are also featured. You must make a reservation ahead of time.
I was very unhappy the way the manager of the HOB box office handled a request for refund of a dinner ticket, which they were not able to honor because of a private party in the dining room.
I purchased a dinner package to have dinner and to see a show featuring Aretha Franklin. When I arrived at the House of Blues, I was informed that HOB could not honor my dinner ticket for that night because of the private party--not only did this disrupt my dinner plans but my understanding of what a reputable business is suppose to be about.
I requested that the box office refund to me the price of the dinner ticket. They indicated at first that this was not possible and that I would have to use the ticket for credit in their gift shop. I did not want this as this is not what I purchased. Finally, the manager of the box office said that she would refund the cost of the dinner ticket but that the assigned seat that went along with the dinner package would be cancelled. I indicated to her that this was not acceptable. She became somewhat hostile at this point, pushing me to the point of telling her to cancel everything!
I thought HOB was a reputable establishment who stood by their committments. I was wrong. They have lost a valuable customer! You make your own decision, and watchout for inept box office managers!!
I really enjoyed my first visit to House of Blues. I sat in a lovely both and had a hilarious waiter who informed us that if we kept are reciept from dinner we were able to see the blues band for free later that night. I was amazed we basically saved $40 ($10 cover times 4 people) because we were planning on coming back there later.
The food was average but the service was terrible so we discussed with the manager but he didn't seem to care we were dissatisfied. I would not suggest the place since there are so many more better places just down the street.
