Costa's Greek Dining & Bar
If the frantic pace and atmosphere of the nearby places in Greektown intimidate you, try this more casual, relaxed spot. Live piano music tinkles away as you sit in a very comfortable dining room and are waited on by a very friendly staff. Specialties include stuffed calamari and Athenian chicken; besides the traditional Greek fare, there are also a variety of fresh seafood, chops and steaks to choose from. Costa's is more sophisticated than most of the Greektown restaurants, and slightly higher prices reflect this.
Such a great experience! Convenient location a few blocks away from the Blue Line... nice ambience, cozy and elegantly casual... fantastic variety on the menu, great amount of traditional Greek food, plus enough other food for less adventurous folks... huge portions, reasonable prices, staff attentive without being in your face. AND open late, plus offering coupons on their website!!! What more can you ask for (other than the recipes so that you can recreate your meal in your hometown...)?!?! HIGHLY recommended.
The food we had at Costa's was as good as I remember my Greek grandmother's cooking to be. It was all excellent..from appetizers to dessert AND the wine. We especially enjoyed the dolmades appetizer (which could be a meal in itself). The egg/lemon soup was out of this world. The pastichio was good but a little flat on taste.
The wait staff was very attentive and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is upscale but still comfortable casual. And the best surprise was the bill...for two of us with ALL THAT FOOD and WINE was less than $60 not including tip.
