Mike Ditka's Iron Mike's Grille
Some words of inspiration from football legend Mike Ditka: "The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare." So...let's prepare by eating a good meal at this supper club that doubles as a hall-of-fame to the former coach of the Chicago Bears. The walls are lined with tributes and Ditka's personal mementos. Try one of these original dishes: French Onion and Sauerkraut "Hangover Soup," Black and Blue Tuna "Puttanesca," Training Table Pot Roast or Cowboy T-bone with Soupy Red Beans. Entrees range from $9.89-$33.89. Even though he is no longer associated with a Chicago team, for Chicago fans, Iron Mike will always be "Da Coach," so why not make a reservation and check out his place? If you do not, drop and give me twenty. Now.
My mother came in from Detroit to spend Mother's Day weekend in Chicago. We wanted to grab some drinks and snacks so decided on Mike Ditkas since it was right there. We went upstairs and they had Frank Sinatra playing and my Mom and I are huge Frank Sinatra fans so we were excited, but it wasn't a cd there was a guy singing who was unreal he sounded just like Frank! We loved it, then he did Louis Armstrong and freaked us out. He did about 5 other voices and was dead on with each, just amazing. We had a blast and now my Mom wants to come back to Chicago just to see him sing again!
We came for my Father's birthday Saturday night to see John Vincent sing. It was a great night for everyone, the food (Coconut Shrimp) and service were great but John was the best part. He does the best Frank Sinatra I ever heard, you have to go see him sing.
The singer was a real treat. We came in for the weekend and went to dinner both nights because of him. So we never got a chance to try Chicago's deep dish but thats ok because the food at Ditka's was great too.
The service was amazing. Our server was not only extremely attentive, but honest in his food and wine suggestions. We loved the wine we had and he even wrote it down on a piece of paper for us to take home with us. The food was awesome. The bone-in filet was delectable! The four of us shared a Chocolate Mousse Pie - it was ENORMOUS. Everyone in our group had a fantastic, memorable dining experience at Ditka's!
